Hi all, I am going to brew up a new beer for my wife to enjoy. She does not like bitter beers and asked for something with blackberry in it so I was going to brew up a Weizenbier for her with the following ingredients.
6.6 pounds of Wheat Liquid Malt Extract (LME).
1 # of Red Wheat steeped for 30 minutes at 150 degrees.
Hops: 1 1/2 ounce of German Hallertau hops
IBUs: 6 - 10
Wyeast Bavarian Wheat 3056
1)After steeping the wheat, add 1/2 of the LME and start the boil.
2) Add 1 ounce Hallertau Hops and boil for 40 minutes
3)Add the rest of the LME and boil 15 minutes
4)Add the last 1/2 ounce of hops and boil 5 minutes
End boil
After the primary is finished, rack to secondary on top of 49 ounces of blackberry puree.
Most of this is right out of a kit with me adding the steeping grains and the blackberry.
Do you think the added wheat steeping grains will overpower everything else, or do you feel a different steeping grain would be a better choice?
Any input would be appreciated.
