I just got a true gdm-7 for next to nothing and I want to use it as my fermentation chamber for a 15.5 sanke keg that I ferment in. In order to get the height I will need to add a collar of about 5.5" due to the compressor hump at the rear of the unit. Has anyone done this on this specific model and if so to what success? Thanks in advance.

Good for you for knocking something like $1700 off the MSRP ("True-ly Horribly Over Priced")

I haven't seen any specific builds around that particular unit but using Liquid Nails to bond the collar to the chassis would be a good start...

Cheers!

Thanks, I was planning on using silicone but I think your plan of liquid nails sounds better.

Here we go...

So I used 100% silicone caulking (1/2" bead) to attach the collar to the cabinet. I let it sit for over 24 hrs and them mounted the door assembly. I now have room for a 15.5 sanke keg that I ferment with. I use a thermowell with controller to keep my temps static. I'll post more of my first ferment with the new chamber.
