Hey everyone, i just received some pin lock kegs and everything is great except one of the liquid posts will not come off. I tapped it with my wrench trying to loosen the seal, ive soaked the top of the keg in hot oxyclean. nothings working. my wrench keeps slipping off. and no i dont have the socket designed for the pin lock posts.

does anyone have any recommendations on removing a stuck post?

thanks

nic

Made the tool out of a cheap socket ,I just used 4 inch grinder with a metal cutting disc to cut the notches for the pins . Took about 10 minutes

I have one keg I can't use because I can't get the post off either. I don't know what to do with it. And I have the correct sockets and everything. I'm just too weak I guess.

if you have tried hot water and it still wont come off heat it with a propane torch. Dont overheat it I had one that I had to hit the post for a few seconds with the torch try the wrench then repeat until it came off. Destroyed the o-rings inside but I was going to replace them anyway... Dont do this on keg with plastic tubes ...

Yeah but who has a propane torch? That is my question. I don't. And because of that I'm out $30 for a keg I can't take apart to clean.

i tried heating the bottom of the post. no luck here. tired the hot soak etc. i guess the socket is my last chance. i just hate how they are soooo much money.

The sockets are only $5 each that's not too bad . Only way you can get it to fit with the tight clearance caused by the handles and the opening in the middle.

I guess I'm coming from the perspective of not even owning a simple adjustable wrench until I needed it for my regulator. I guess I should have known all you handy people would have just about everything.

Sorry if it's bad etiquette to bump an old thread, but I had this problem yesterday and found the thread after getting worried that the posts were reverse threaded or some other weirdness. I solved the problem by putting my pin-lock compatible socket on the post, holding it in place, and then tapping on the end of the ratchet handle with a rubber mallet with more and more forceful blows until the post loosened.
