So, just thinking here about my 4 cornelius kegs in the mail, and how I'll have so much fun filling all of them.

What if I want to bring just a few beers to a friends house? I see this thing on morebeer.com:

http://morebeer.com/product.html?product_id=18250

but I dont want to spend $12 on something I can make. What if I make an adaptor with a one way check valve to pressurize a 2-liter soda bottle? Could I fill it up with the tap, then close the bottle, and pressurize with co2? Is that all this product does?

Thanks

Many people attach bicycle tire valves on bottle caps and make an adapter for their CO2 bottle. I find it difficult to believe this is cheaper, but who knows?

Most of the time, I just fill chilled flip tops and accept the lower carb level.

You should be okay filling a growler for a short period of time. That is how I get them filled at the small breweries, and they say that they are fine if you drink them within 24 hours.

Ahh... yes. Didnt even think of that. I guess I drank too many of them growlers to remember... :drunk:

I have a problem in that once I crack a growler, they go right down... and I never buy just one.

I cant wait to have my own beer to drink... :ban:

There are also counter pressure fillers and the Blichmann beer gun. A more expensive route than any yet discussed in this thread, but you can bottle from your tap and preserve all the carbonation.

I have exactly what david_42 described. I use it to carbonate homemade soda, but it would certainly work with beer. The valve is a replacement valve stem with the guts removed (from NAPA).
