Transplanting Hops

Hi all. I'm in the process of selling our house in preparation of breaking ground on a new one in early April. We will be living in my parents' basement for the few months between selling the house (probably mid-march) and moving into the new one around the 1st of August. Now to the pickle.

I've got four, second-year hop plants growing out back. How should I go about transplanting these? My initial thought was to just put them in large planters. If I did, what effect would that have on hop plants that spent last season trying to develop their root system?

Also note that I'm in South Dakota, with ground frozen solid 4 feet down at the moment.

divide the rhizome into smaller sections, or dig up the crown and put it in a freezer bag and store in the fridge until you're ready to plant in.
