Hey people! I am really new to brewing and even understanding the process, but that didn't stop me from brewing up my first batch already!

I used a fairly simple kit and followed instructions, just pitched the yeast on my Hefeweizen and sittin back with some questions about the fermentation.

I have heard that these can ferment pretty violently, and the local homebrew shop guy said to ferment between 70-72 degrees. Will this promote a more violent fermentation? I suspect so but need a second opinion can anybody help point me the right direction?

Yes the higher the temps the more vigorous the fermentation will be, just let it do its thing and don't worry too much, if you notice yeast glop getting into your airlock you may want to be ready for some blowoff, if things get plugged the lid can blow off and make quite a mess, I always use a simple blowoff tube at first just in case, then switch to an airlock as things settle down.

Thanks for the input. Looks like I will get a blowoff ready. What is the best way to do that, run the tube into another bucket of sanitizer solution?

70-75 is high for some yeast and beer styles, but I have no idea what temp is correct for a Hefe. You may want to look that up if someone here doesn't offer advice on that. I know the yeast for hefe is a bit different from many other ale strains.

I know at those temps, with a wheat beer, you really ought to be prepared with a blow off tube. Just run a tube from the fermentor down into a container with some sanitizer in it.

Anyway, welcome and enjoy your fist beer! It takes a few weeks for each batch to finish, so you may want to pick up another fermentor and get started on the second batch!

Alright looks like I'll get a blowoff setup when I get home today! I figured I would need one based on what I have read but didn't start out with one.
