I want to start collecting my yeast at high krausen and saw a video at this site - http://www.aleiens.com/video/top-cropping-yeast-from-a

I cant seem to find a place online where I can buy the stainless steel tube / rod that he uses. Does anyone know where I can get one?

I want to know where to get the other SS tube that goes into the flask.

He took a racking cane that he cut with a tube cutter, and used one end to suck stuff in from the carboy, and the other end to plop it into the flask.

I've built the same thing with a plastic racking cane - works fine.

This is the best way of repitching yeast... I think you will be really happy with the results. I've even cropped yeast from high gravity beers that otherwise you couldn't reuse yeast from, since it's still actively fermenting and the alcohol is still low at that point, it's quite healthy and viable to re-pitch.

Not sure where he got em but my LHBS has SS turkey basters, never asked why before but they would probably work well for top cropping?
