I recently made a polish style ale and used Wyeast 2007 lager yeast. After 2 days no fermentation. So added another packet of the same. Fermentation started after 24 hrs. Have I pitched too much yeast? Will the flavor be effected? This was brewed in a Mr beer fermentator(2 1/2 gal). Been 2 weeks in the mr beer keg.

What was your grain bill, starting gravity, and volume? Did you make a yeast starter or pitch smack pack right in? Have you already kegged it or is it still fermenting?

I just noticed you are using a lager yeast. Are you brewing an ale or a lager? What temp are you fermenting at? Mr. Malty (www.mrmalty.com) says 1 smack pack of yeast is good for 2.5 gallons of 1.05 ale. For lager you would need 2 smack packs.

The recipe actually called for white labs yeast. But the store was out and gave me the wyeast lager saying it was the closest to the white labs yeast.

what temperature are you fermenting at?
if it's a lager yeast, and you're trying to ferment at ale temperatures, that's likely why you're not seeing signs of fermentation: it's too warm for them
