Hi -

I recently brewed a Nugget Nectar clone with a couple of my cousins. During the brew process, the grain bag got a hole in it, and probably about a quarter of the steeping grains stayed in the brewpot.

I just transferred it to a carboy for secondary fermentation, and even after a few days, it is VERY cloudy (I used whirlfloc in the brew process).

Is there anything I can do to help this settle out? Is it going to affect the flavor of the final product? Any advice would be welcome.

Thanks.

It will clear eventually. As I just noted in another thread:

'Brewing Beers Like Those You Buy', circa 1970 by the late Dave Line, provided directions to leave steeped grains in for the whole boil for extract brews. While we know a lot more now, and wouldn't advocate that practice, one must assume it produced decent beer without too many problems.

Just let it sit in secondary for longer and keep it on the lower end of the acceptable fermentation temp

You could also try cold crashing or using geletain finings to clear it up, if it doesn't seem to be getting as clear as you'd like. I'd give it a couple weeks before doing that, though. Even then, cold crashing couldn't hurt, if you have the ability to do so.
