Just picked up some Maris otter and nelson hops. My intention was to make a SMaSH ipa but then ran across some leftover warrior hops in my freezer. Now pondering if I should make a SMaDH instead using warrior for bittering. Any thoughts, suggestions, criticisms on this? Anybody tried this combo?

I like using warrior hops for bittering. Throw them all together, see how it goes.

Personally never used the Nelson hops.

They're a new Zealand hop. Supposed to have a very fruit forward flavor. Especially grape

Use the warrior. I love it as a bittering charge. Go easy with the Nelson. I would suggest you pair it with something else. I love the hop, but feel like a bunch of it by itself is too much. It plays well with pretty much everything.

I have been itching to use 4 oz of warrior I've had about a year. Best use of them would be in an IPA I think, but initially I was to use them in a sMasH but I couldn't use them all and I needed to... I'll eventually do that original idea of a smash!

That was my reasoning behind using warrior... to not have an overbearing grape taste. I'm def gonna try thIs now. Will update once it's ready to drink

I've heard warrior isn't much good for anything other than bittering

I made a Warrior SMaSH last summer.
My verdict was that in addition to it being a great bittering hop, Warrior could be an useful aroma hop in some circumstances (I got some substantial lemon/grassy aroma).
The flavor it imparted was a little too plain/grassy to stand by itself.
Just my 2cents.

I have only used Warrior for bittering. I'll use it at the beginning of the boil to get most of the bitterness I'm trying to achieve, saving the better flavor/aroma hops for late additions, steeping, and dry hopping.
