I agree with everyone else who says Perlick is the only choice. As far as SS vs. Chrome goes- I don't think you'll regret buying SS and knowing that you'll never have to buy faucets ever again.

What about ss shanks? How important does this become if we go Perlick?

I just used the old shanks I already had when I switched to Perlick faucets. IMHO, who cares about the shanks! All they really are is a connector between the faucets and the line. They're not seen, and other than an o-ring failing, there isn't much that can really go wrong with a shank. I'm sure others will disagree, but if you already have shanks, I wouldn't upgrade them unless you've got money burning a hole in your pocket.

Someone mentioned "Krome" brand faucets @ their work...........That is a good looking faucet, and I've often wondered about their reliability / construction, 'cause I see LOTS of them in service @ brewpubs, restaurants, and whatnot.........
Anyone have knowledge of them?

I had one Krome faucet. I added it to a three tap kegerator to make it a four tap kegerator. The other three faucets had no brand name markings that I could find. The Krome one was not as smooth and did not pour quite as good as the no-name faucets. I wasn't terribly impressed.

And there was just no comparison between any of those four faucets and the Perlick ones that I upgraded to.

I have one SS Perlick faucet and have seen other buddies standard faucets (they stick).

I will be buying 3 more SS Perlicks when we open up our home bar up north in a year. Lasts you a lifetime, so no reason not to get the best.

Just FYI, I went to Birdman Brewing to buy a growler filler for my Perlick 630 SS faucets. They were wanting about $12, plus $14 (minimum) shipping. I just ordered a growler filler from Brew International for $8.16, INCLUDING SHIPPING. I don't know if this is a "Genuine Perlick" filler or if it's just compatible. Doesn't matter to me if it's "Genuine Perlick" or just "comaptible" as long as it works.

Today is the big day!!!!

I'm buying 2 Perlick SS 650 faucets and 2 SS shanks!

The next time I want advice on buying a diamond ring, I'll make sure to ask you all ;)

From where? Ritebrew seemed to have the best prices but they are out of stock right now.

thx

As stated by @newsman the best price seems to be from Brew International. About $157 including shipping for 2 Perlick 650 faucets and 2 SS shanks including nipple, clamps, nuts, etc...

I'm still shopping though... I haven't checked ritebrew yet

I've got my finger on the buy button, so someone better save be my 1130am PST

Ok yeah, I bought it. also threw in a 3 piece manifold because the price with shipping was so damn cheap. I'll let everyone know if there is an issue with any of the products and/or Brew International.......

Its not like I have anything else to spend the money on.......................... There is the issue of a BBQ... but that's a thread for another day...

I got a tracking number for my shipment already. They see to be on top of things

I know I'm late to the party, but I'll add that you made the best decision. I started brewing and kegging when I was in college, and got the cheapest stuff I could find off craigslist just so that I could have something. I eventually replaced everything that I had with stainless, which meant I was buying everything a second time (though, the old shanks and faucets went to the four jockey boxes I built).

I now have three original ventmatics, three perlick 425ss, seven perlick 525ss, and now also three 650ss, two of which I am using on direct draw couplers that go directly on the kegs (one for ball lock and one for pin lock) and one on the walk-in. I am so impressed with the 650ss, that I plan on gradually replacing the 13 other faucets on the walk-in with them. I also bought the 650ss growler filler, so once I unify all the faucets, I will be able to fill growlers and bottles much more easily than I have in the past. Once I have all 650ss faucets (this will likely take years due to the costs), the flow control will allow me to put john guest fittings on the shanks, and use bev seal ultra barrier tubing matched to the other john guest fittings that I use (3/8), which has a 1/4'' ID, which doesn't have enough restriction, which requires me to have flow controls to have an acceptable pour. That was long winded. haha.

In summary, you will enjoy your new faucets, they are great, and will serve you well!

Perlicks came in the other day, everything looks great! Ss shanks awesome. I would buy from these guys again!

Average cost of an engagement ring is $4,000.
Or you could buy 60 SS Perlicks with shanks for the same money.

Find a girl that thinks that 60 Perlicks in a row is far more beautiful than a diamond ring and you've got yourself a keeper.
