I have an opportunity to purchase a Sanyo 4912 for $100, I am lookin for a fermentation chamber that might double as a kegerator later, I am really stuck on whether or not to buy a chest freezer for the fermenter and turning it into a keezer at a later time when I'm ready to begin kegging. I think the Sanyo is a good deal but I really don't have the resources to purchase it and a chest freezer as well. What would any of the veterans suggest?? Is the Sanyo a good deal, or is the chest freezer more versatile? I need to do something soon as here in Arizona we've seemed to skip spring altogether and jump right into summer this year (February-yesterday 89degrees, today 86 degrees w/ 80's all week!!!) Brewing here can be a bitch because of the hot gound water and trouble controlling fermetation temps. I'm almost in a state of dismay, what do I do? Other than brew only in the winter months???

Chest freezer stays colder, cycles on less, more efficient. There are some people who partition one side of the freezer for fermenting and keep it warmer than the keg serving side - dual purpose. Search HBT or Google for instructions as I don't remember the exact setup.

I have both and the fridge has been unplugged and unloved for months. It sits alone in the garage while my keezer is in my office.
