time limit on pitching rehydrated yeast?

hi there,

this is my first post about my first batch. i'm glad there's such a helpful and patient community like this for the inexperienced brewer such as myself.

my question is, i read that you should rehydrate your yeast for roughly 30 min and then pitch within 30 minutes for best results. after the initial 30, mine sat for at least another hour while i waited for the wort to cool. (it took forever, even sitting in the snow). do you think this will cause problems?

and while i have your attention, what's everyone's thoughts on no rinse sanitizers? that's what i used cause it came with my kit but i was wary about it.

Its fine to use, maybe should have covered it if it was out that long but you should be ok. No rinse works fine I use StarSan as my sanitizer.
 
I left my yeast for about 25 minutes once (Nottingham by DanStar, 11g yellow pack, somewhat common with extract kits) and it was fine. However, the instructions said to allow it to sit still in water for 15, then stir it and pitch immediately (i think).

You'll know if it didn't work if in 5-7 days, you take the lid off the fermentation bucket and there's no sign of fermentation such as a foamy residue on the walls of the bucket above the liquid. I am relatively new to brewing (brewed a few batches 13 yrs ago and just got back into it a few months ago), so I'd really like to know how this batch turns out for you. If you do a secondary fermentation, be sure to get a hydrometer reading at transfer so you (and we) can know if you had a successful fermentation!

I prefer using a turkey baster to get a sample and squirt it into the test tube. My hydrometer's protective case doubles as a test tube.

I'll stir it into some water, cover with plastic wrap and usually leave it for over an hour. Always have fermentation within a few hours.
 
Safale US-05. My goal was always to rehydrate for 20 minutes but then stuff would come up during the brew and it would end up sitting for an hour or more.
