I need to free up a carboy so I can get a new beer brewing. I am going to be kegging the current brew in there but I don't have my CO2 tank filled. Is it ok to put the brew in the keg and fridge even if I won't be able to start carbonating for probably another week?

Personally, I wouldn't. They way I see it is pressurizing the keg will keep an air tight seal so no bad stuff will get in your batch. I think there are other ways of carbonating a keg without co2

Yeah...I'd wait. Your other option is to naturally carb the keg and pull the release on top a couple of days later to purge the tank. Not perfect....but it'll work (as long as you get a good seal on your keg).

+1 about needing to use CO2 to seal the keg. It will not be air tight without it.
