So here's the deal . . .
Went out to a fire the other day slipped on some ice because the apartment managment company cant plow thier freeking parking lot and F'ed up my knee. On Doctors orders I am off work until further notice and am schedualed for a MRI tomarrow. The x-rays came back clean but he said I have a lot of fluid in my knee and laterial instability and was worried about my LCL . . .

Lets guess what I did to my knee . . . I'll post the MRI results as soon as I know

what about the "take the guy to court" option?
not an option.
From what I was told by the department because I was responding to a emergancy situation he's not liabal. I asked because IMHO it's BS that the City should get stuck with the bill. If it would have been ice from fire fighting operations then OK I guess the city could eat it IMHO but since it was just due to the lazyness of the managment company of the property I dont think the city shold have to pay for it.

I picked the big clumsy wuss option because that actually is the one with the least severe injury potential. Good luck with the MRI.:)

If you twisted it while your leg was flexed Id say its a torn/displaced meniscus. Is your knee swollen above and on the sides of the patella?
You probably already know that this will take forever to heal (meniscus=fibrocartilage)

Good Luck!

You guys will love this....

I tore the meniscus in my right knee in about March of this year. It still hurts off an on to this day, sometimes getting pretty bad if I twist me knee just right.

Did I do this playing sports? No.
Did I have an car accident or slip and fall? No.
Did I do this doing ANYTHING physically stressful? No.

I tore it while crouched down on the kitchen flooe.... bottling beer.

I thought you were going to say it was while you were doing something else. ;)

You'd know if you had a torn ligament. I'd hear your screaming.

everyone I know that has blown out a ACL or LCL said it didnt hurt that bad until a few hours later, thats about how long it took for mine to really start hurting

If I am looking down at my left knee the largest swelling is to the uper left of the patella and directly below the patella, but the majority of the pain is slightly below and lateral to the patella (superior/lateral part of the fibula). When I went down my right foot ended up to the left of my left @$$ cheek with my heal planted directly in me arse crevass.

When the Doc was checking it out the "instability" becam evident when he pulled my ankle medial and he could feel the knee "come out" to the lateral. (BTW Cheese . . . if ya heard any wierd noise around 11:30 today that was me, OMFG that hurt)

I'm hoping I just sprained it or stretched it out really good 'cuz TBH any kind of surgery scares the HELL out of me. I'll run into burning buildings and crawl under unstable upside-down cars and stuff but come at me with a knife or needle to take blood and I am a HUGE chicken $h!t.

Does that mean you'll stop wearing those heels and stockings? (avatar)

Maybe you can get tips from lorena on one legged brewing. IIRC she had a broken leg or something.

Hope its not as bad as it sounds.

Doesn't sound good but all the best to ya. And as I'm sure you know a good dose of PMA (positive mental attitude) goes a long way.

Keep us posted! :mug:

That was where my mind was going, too... you know, the whole "Skull Splitters" incident and all...

:off: : Are you talking about Orkney Dark Island - that is fine beer. Three was my limit on them (pints of course). :drunk::drunk::drunk:

The Avatar isnt me. It's every chick I ever "met" online . . . . or at least what I assume them to be

And the 1 legged brewing tips could come in handy I have 10 gallons I need to bottle but cant lift the carboys :(

One time, due to a Stupid Drunk Injury (SDI), I ended up with a very badly injured knee. (I found out that I'm not able to long-jump an 8 foot wide, 10 foot deep irrigation ditch from a standing position while wearing Birkenstocks. I had to knee-climb a concrete wall to get out.)

After a few days of near unbearable suffering, my room-mate (pre-med student) convinced me to see a doctor. One particular test he performed (shifting my lower leg and thigh to see how the knee reacted) gave him a positive for a torn ACL & PCL.

Doctor: "This looks like you tore both ligaments, but..."
Me: "But what?"
Doctor: "Why aren't you screaming in pain when I do this? Does this hurt?"
Me: "Not really."
Doctor: "How about this?"
Me: "Ow, Dick! You're trying to make that hurt."
Doctor: "Hmmm....are you flexible?"
Me: "Double-jointed."
Doctor: "You should volunteer for PT classes. They can test your leg to see how an injured leg should react. Here's a script for crutches and some pain-killers. See you in a few weeks."

ROFLMAO
sounds like my Doc visit the other day:D

BTW just back from the MRI, the tech wouldnt even give me a hint:mad:
I do have to say I didnt think I would be able to hold that still for that long, and dont know if I could ever do it again. The machine part wasnt a problem, the no fidgeting part was the killer

I'm hoping that you will be just fine in a couple of days. It's not good that you have pain where you do- but hopefully it's just swelling. My daughter had a ton of fluid in her knee when she fell, and it was badly bruised, but there was no damage. I hope that it'll be the same for you. That just really sucks all around.

I'll save the one-legged brewing tips for now, hoping you won't need them :cross:
