First Batch, t=+72 hours:
Ok, so the yeast finally caught. The krausen is getting pretty high up there. What is the wort supposed to smell like now? I feel like I have a lot of acetaldehyde but I feel like I aerated enough. What is a beer supposed to smell like at this stage? It burns my nose when I waft it.

im pretty new to brewing (2 batches) but for both ive noticed that with the vigorous fermentation comes a strong smell which i can most closely associate with raspberry yop

Relax. Don't Worry. Have a micro brew until your homebrew is ready in 2 months. Waiting longer is better. Buy more fermenters and kegs/bottles.

Cheers :mug:

Put the carboy DOWN.

Different yeasts are going to produce different smells, including some unpleasant ones. It doesn't mean anything whatsoever. So quit worrying and quit sniffing your carboy.

RHAHB would be great advice... if I had any. Thanks a lot. Being my first time I'm just worried. Like a mother and child.

My first batch stank up my closet pretty good. Its tasting awesome now though. The second batch hardly has any aroma to it as it ferments. So in my little experience, it happens. Buy an air freshener or treat it like a good fart, because everyone enjoys their own.

I have not smelled this so called rhino fart unless it is what is stinking up my room. My dad brewed beer twice, I'm looking to beat his record.

And as you drink your own homebrew, until your digestive system adjusts to the presence of new yeasts, you, too, may produce so-called "rhino farts"

:D

That is why he said microbrew :cross: start planning your next brew. Plant some hops. Make a kegerator or keezer. Any of those will get your mind off your fermentor. Forget about it for 6 weeks.

"I love the smell of yeast farts in the morning, it smells like, farts"
Gotta love the kolschy sulphur farts:rockin:
