My goal is to make a midwest IPA with a solid sweet malt backbone.

10 lbs. 2 row Pale Malt
1 lb. Caramel/Crystal Malt 40L
1 lb. Honey Malt

1 oz Magnum (60)
1 oz Amarillo Gold (20)
1 oz Cascade (5)
1 oz Cascade (DH 10 days)

OG - 1.063
Target ABV% - 6.5%
63.4 - IBU

Any comments/critiques appreciated as always - Cheers!

You'll get the sweet but not much else. You might want to include some vienna or munich in your grain bill to add a little bready flavor but otherwise it looks good.

I was thinking of splitting the 2 row with Munich, but fearing overpowering maltiness I opted out.
So maybe 8 lbs. 2 row, with 2 lbs. Munich?

Thanks!

I would cut down the Honey Malts. They will overpower the hops and after about 3 weeks, if the kegs hasn't kicked, you will have a malty honey beer verses a sweet IPA.

And a little Vienna or Munich to amp the malt.

Got it...so
7 lbs 2 row
2 lbs. Munich
1 lb. Caramel/Crystal Malt 40L
1/2 lb. Honey Malt
