thoughts dry hopping a barleywine...?

it's in oak right now, but was going to automatically dry hop it and realized it's probably a waste of hops... (fwiw, it wasn't super huge, only 1.096)

anyone here get anything out of dry hopping a barleywine? to be truthful, about a 1/4 of it will get consumed young, but i fully expect to have this beer on hand for well over a year and it just seems like a waste... maybe the first 1/4 would be worth it...?
 
are you using whole leaf or pellets?

i think the whole leaf robs you of a lot of beer because they soak up a lot. other than that, if you need to get rid of the hops, then go for it.
 
If the majority of the barley wine will sit for any longer than 2 or so months after packaging, you won't get much out of the dry hopping.
