I've been casually considering homebrewing for a while, but for some reason I really got the bug over the past few days and I've been voraciously reading up on how to get started. This site has been helpful (though of course I don't understand most of what you're talking about yet), and I think it was here that I found a link to John Palmer's book, which is great so far (I've read section one).

I think I lucked out with the LHBS I found: you can make a reservation with these guys and do a recipe from scratch along with their master brewer on premises. This sounds like a great way to get an overview of the brewing process ... so I made an appointment for next Tuesday :) I think I want to start off with an IPA, though I'm quite fond of pilsner as well.

I can see making a few batches with these guys before getting the equipment and making my own. I can hardly wait ...

Awesome idea! I've been fantasizing about opening a Brewpub and having regularly scheduled 'open to the public' brewdays... :)

Hint: the wiki glossary can be very useful.
Yes, I just discovered the wiki earlier today. You guys have put together some very nice resources here :)

I guess I should round out this info with Charles Papazian's The Complete Joy Of Homebrewing Third Edition? That seems to be one of the main books to read on home brewing.
