I've been casually considering homebrewing for a while, but for some reason I really got the bug over the past few days and I've been voraciously reading up on how to get started. This site has been helpful (though of course I don't understand most of what you're talking about yet), and I think it was here that I found a link to John Palmer's book, which is great so far (I've read section one).
I think I lucked out with the LHBS I found: you can make a reservation with these guys and do a recipe from scratch along with their master brewer on premises. This sounds like a great way to get an overview of the brewing process ... so I made an appointment for next Tuesday
I think I want to start off with an IPA, though I'm quite fond of pilsner as well.
I can see making a few batches with these guys before getting the equipment and making my own. I can hardly wait ...
