Anyone have a suggestion for a thermometer I could use for monitoring the temperature of my mash in my BIAB setup that would allow me to do so without removing the lid? Something with a long wire with a sensor on the end is what I'm looking for. Thanks!

I use Oneida thermometer from bed bath and beyond. It's actually a meat thermometer with a wire and stainless sensor. It's actually pretty accurate, I use it because it has an alarm so I don't go over my strike water temperature and then I just put into the mash.

i had just gotten this from Thermoworks, the chef alarm: http://www.thermoworks.com/products/alarm/chefalarm.html

I bought it on clearance, they had an open box sale. Wire is long, Stainless steel braided and you can interchange the thermometer tips.

I bought the extra long probe and I use that along with the shorter one i comes with. Because the temps vary in the grain bed, I have the long probe monitoring the bottom of the mash and the shorter one near the top. I unplug the probes to switch.

It also monitors Min and Max temps, has a low temp or high temp alarm, timer....it's a really nice and accurate thermomter that I can snake the wires out of my mash tun and never have to open the lid.
