I have been using this pen thermometer:
http://www.taylorusa.com/kitchen/thermometers/trutemp-digital-instant-read-thermometer.html

While brewing today it got a bit wet so I opened it to let it dry. Its functioning again, but now instead of reading F degrees its showing Celcius readings and I do not see any sort of switch to get it back to F readings.

Has anyone experienced this problem. This is not the first time I have had to open the unit to let it dry, but it is the first time the temperature scale has changed.

Perplexed in VA!

What a perfect opportunity to adjust to a more logical temperature measure.

Just kidding, sorry I can't help. Just wanted to be cheeky.

Hi,
Thank you for your question! I am sorry to hear that you are having this problem with this thermometer. I checked with the manufacturer on this, and this unit does not read in Celsius, it only reads in Fahrenheit. So, if it is showing a Celsius reading, than, something internally has been damaged as a result of being submerged in water. I also learned that this unit was not designed to be dishwasher safe and therefore not designed to be able to b submerged in water.

I hope this helps!

Was all I could get Dude!

Thanks for the info. Still seems weird that it would switch to Celcius. I guess I can return it and get an exchange.

If you open it up you should see two contacts on the bottom right of the board labeled "RST". Short these out with a paper clip and it should change back to Farenheit.
