Hello All,
I am building some BCS thermistor temp probes and I was wondering if I should fill the thermowell with thermal paste to improve the transfer?

Cheers,
CBG

I put a blob on the end of the probe before I stick it in. Filling the well is impractical and unnecessary. Putting any on may be unnecessary, I actually haven't tried.

I use k type thermocouples which is a similar situation. I just stuff them into the thermowell and call it good. Never had a problem.

I used a syringe and 14 gauge blunt needle to squeeze a few ml's onto the distal end of the probe's internal tip. Then advance the thermistor assembly into it. I assume it doesn't flow with heat, but I could be wrong.

Old thread, I know, but what type of thermal compound did you do this with a syringe? I was thinking diaper cream, but wanted to know the viscosity of what you were using with a 14Ga needle. Also did you get the needle and syringe from Amazon?
