Not that anyone is this thread likely cares, but D14 is closing their doors in the coming weeks. From FB yesterday:

"Good news and bad news guys.

Good news is we have a new sour beer hitting the taps today! The Final Hour Sour is a very nice barrel fermented sour. More tart than my typical sour so slightly less approachable. Nice tropical fruit notes and a dry finish.

Also Brewers play at 4 and we will have the sound on!

Bad news is that this beer is aptly named. D14 will be closing it’s doors for good before the end of the month. To say it breaks my heart to say this, is an understatement. I won’t get into all the why’s, except to say it is simply time to move on.

That being said our 4th Anniversary (and farewell) party will go on as planned this Saturday. I will stay open for sure until the 26th. I will likely bottle any remaining beer and have a bottle Release and final blowout the following week.

Thanks everyone
Matt"

Your kids will be around forever. How many chances will you have to drink those (probably terrible) one-off beers?

i meant decision as in "is the 10 year old ready to drink that much beer in one sitting or do i let her keep conditioning until next summer before taking the governor off?"

never heard of them before seeing the news that they were closing. sucks either way.

I thought the NG Thumbprint Chocolate Stout was fantastic. It's a non- Imperial Stout and non- Barrel Aged, so I doubt it will get much love. The body was not overly thin, which I think was the main criticism of the Cherry Stout. Flavor was super chocolate-y, with some nice roasty notes.

I dug it as well! I agree that it won't get much love though. A large part of the beer drinking community have come to expect that all beer should basically be dessert.

and here i found that NG Chocolate Stout to be thin & sickly sweet. like Choklat level sweet.

couldn't even finish a bottle.

It's delicious and closely parallels Samuel Smith's version. If you don't like that one, you won't like this one.

been a long time since i had a Samuel Smith but my memory tells me you're spot on

Central Waters 21st Anniversary Party
Central Waters Brewing 21st Anniversary Party
Saturday. January 26. 2019
3 pm - 8 pm

Release of our annual Anniversary beer, this year called 21.

Come join us on Saturday. January 26 from 3 pm until 8 pm as we celebrate 21 years of brewing and good times!

As always, we will open the doors to the public at 3 pm sharp, with as many of our beers on tap as we can muster up! Live music by Art Stevenson and Highwater and Sloppy Joe, and food for sale from local food vendors round out this amazing brewery experience.

21 and over, strict policy on this one, no exceptions

Cash only

Only one type of ticket, first come first served via Brown Paper Tickets.

Tickets go on sale Sunday, December 9th 2018 at 6 pm.

Tickets are $15 each

This ticket grants you entrance into the brewery as well as the ability to purchase up to 6 bottles of 21 at $15 each. You will also receive 2 tickets good to redeem 2 pours of any beer on tap EXCEPT the anniversary beer. The remaining ticket price will be donated to charity.

Again, every ticket is also a ticket to have the ability to purchase the anniversary beer.

One ticket per person, no proxies. You will be allowed to puchase up to 2 tickets, but each person may only redeem one bottle allocation. This allows you to bring a guest if you are able to get tickets.

As you enter the building, your ticket will be scanned to remove it from the system, thereby preventing multiple uses. You will receive your 2 tickets for beer pours here. You will keep your ticket upon entering, and give this ticket to the folks manning the anniversary beer sales area if you choose to purchase bottles. Again, only one ticket per person. We will take this ticket from you when you purchase your bottles, preventing people from buying twice on one ticket.

Anniversary Beer sales will be open from 3 pm until 7 pm.

The event ends at 8 pm sharp.

SHUTTLES:
We will once again be running shuttles from 3 locations in Stevens Point (Guus on Main/Cobblestone Inn And Suites, Country Inn & Suites and Holiday Inn). Shuttles will run from 2:30 until everyone is out of the building after 8 pm. These are free, so please treat your drivers well and be respectful.

Please, NO bottle sharing this year! You will not be allowed to bottle share in line, and you will not be allowed to bottle share in the brewery, for liability reasons.

We look forward to celebrating with you in January!

Stopped by Badger State this week - the 5 year anniversary beer (Double Buzzy) was really good on tap. They have it in cans at the tap room - not sure if it is hitting stores or not, but I would guess so.

Also had a "Whiskey Business" - imperial chocolate milk stout in whiskey barrels. Very good.

hoooooooooly ****

2018 anniversary party is going to be impossible to get into.

That was my thought too. Such a bummer. I might go into work with my fast internet connection and install some extensions to stop pictures from loading. Beer in 2017.

XXI confirmed impossible. Silly me. Sitting at home with my 100 mbps connection not being fast enough.

forgot it was happening today. caught the FB notification 20 minutes after the sale started. didn't even try.

MADISON, Wis. (WBAY) - A Madison-based beer company has issued a recall due to the risk of injury from broken glass.

The recall impacts these beers:

Karben4 says consumers should not open the recalled beers. For information on a beer voucher, email [email protected] or visit the Karben4 Facebook page and leave a direct message.

Madison, WI (January 2, 2019) – Karben4 announced today that it was voluntarily recalling certain of its beer bottles after being notified by its bottle manufacturer of a potential flaw in certain bottles. The recall involves all bottles that were filled between November 8 and December 31, 2018. Further detail is provided below.

Karben4 was notified by its bottle manufacturer that the manufacturer detected a flaw in bottles that ranged sporadically throughout the bottle manufacturer’s October 2018 production. The flaw can result in a loss of carbonation and the potential for a small piece of glass to break and fall into the bottle, causing a risk for injury. Since the scope of the bottle manufacturer’s flaw cannot be more accurately determined, Karben4 has decided to recall and destroy all of the beer bottles from the bottle manufacturer’s batch in question. Karben4 has also immediately sourced new glass bottles from a different glass production plant and will begin using those bottles on Thursday, January 3, 2019 to ensure the continued safety of its loyal customers.

While Karben4 has been advised by the bottle manufacturer that the design flaw affected a small quantity of the bottles produced in October, Karben4 believes it is critically important to take every precaution necessary to ensure the safety of its customers and the quality of its product. Karben4 is actively working with its beer distribution partners to eliminate these bottles from warehouse inventory and remove them from store shelves.

Some of the affected bottles (produced between November 8-December 31) may have already been purchased by consumers. Karben4 requests consumers not open these bottles and instead return them to the Karben4 taproom. Any consumer that returns unopened affected bottles to the taproom (3698 Kinsman Blvd., Madison, WI) will receive their choice of a $10 refund, a free growler with fill or a t-shirt per 6pk or 12pk that they purchased. If you are unable to get to the taproom please email [email protected] or direct message our facebook page with a picture of the bottle and Karben4 will work with you directly to mail merchandise or a beer voucher to thank you for your effort and care.

Consumers can determine whether they have unopened bottles affected by this voluntary recall by looking at the “Bottled On” date on the neck of the bottle. If the date is between (and including) November 8, 2018 and December 31, 2018 then you have a bottle that is the subject of this recall. If you cannot locate or read this “Bottled On” date you can reach out to Karben4 directly for assistance. Please email [email protected] or direct message our facebook page and Karben4 will assist you.

Below is a comprehensive list of the bottled product affected:

  1. Fantasy Factory bottled on 11/08/18, 11/15/18, 11/20/18, 11/27/18, 12/04/18, 12/18/18, 12/27/18 and 12/31/18
  2. Raspberry Fantasy Factory bottled on 11/13/18 and 11/27/18

whoa, who is the money behind Good City that they were able to hook in with the Bucks and open that huge new facility across from the Fiserv Forum??

I'm assuming they raised the capital themselves and/or borrowed the money. In addition to good beer, they seem to be pretty savvy business people.

they've only been in GB since.... late summer last year? had only seen Good City beer once before on shelves in Milwaukee. i had no idea they were as big as they apparently are.

slick can packaging, i thought but not "we have tens of millions of dollars to open a huge new restaurant/brewing facility in conjunction with the Bucks" money.

pretty impressive
