Leaving midday Thursday.

Thanks for the recs. Will be doing predetermined stuff with work people most of the time so I should be covered for the free time I'll actually get.
If you can break free for lunch or take work people for a long lunch, check out killen's BBQ in Pearland. only problem is no good beer bars close and they close at 5 during the week, but it's the best beef rib in town.

Yissssssss

The missus and I will be there. Gotta keep that mug vert going on.

Also, they had a Double Barrel version of Templar Knights w/ cherries on this past weekend that is not to be missed if it's still on. Might go back on Wednesday to get more. Sooo good.

I'm Hoping they have some Midnight Swordfight or Swordfish whatever the hell it was called.

Planning on hitting it for lunch before I leave tomorrow.

ETA: And beef ribs is exactly what I had in mind.

Wife and I ended up with a free hotel room in Austin for next weekend so we're going to drive over. Northside of town somewhere.

Plans to some Christmas shopping and then hit some breweries. I have zero interest in JK. Wife is from CO so we will make a stop at Oscar Blues, then what are 2 other destinations we should hit ?

If you are going to Oskar Blues, 4th Tap is basically right across the street. Definitely hit up Austin Beerworks, which is also close to OB.

And agreed with FLBeerFan about Pinthouse. And if you go there, Draught House is pretty close as well.

Sweet. That'll do it. Any cideries nearby?

Pinthouse is releasing Fully Adrift in bottles next Saturday as well.

Pinthouse, Austin Beerworks, Draught House.

There is no need to visit elsewhere up north. ;)

Also: Oskar Blues kinda sucks unless you want to buy some Oskar Blues merch. I have yet to see them put any special beers on tap that aren't 6-pack beers. *shrug* I walked in there, looked at all the people waiting in line to OB IPA and DPA, loud music and hipsters (like not "beer hipsters," hipster ass hipsters) and immediately walked out, lol.

Meridian Hive is a meadery and isn't exactly close by, but they do carbonated meads.
Meridian Hive is in North Austin. It's right near where 290E and 183 meet. *shrug*

As far as cideries go, you're gonna have to venture to South Austin. If you're going to Jester King, Argus Cidery has a taproom as well as Texas Keeper (near Southpark Meadows) that are open on weekends.

If you're out near Jester King and she digs vodka, check out Deep Eddy Vodka as well. It's a real panty dropper.

We may skip OB then. My favorite location of theirs is the OG in Lyons anyway. Thanks for the tips!

Pinthouse has 2 locations, Burnet Rd and South Lamar BlVd, is either better than the other?

We will be staying 8mins from OB, 4th Tap, Austin Beerworks, so that's a perfect setup.

You're closer to the North location, but check the taps on both and see what sounds better for you.

Thanks for the Houston recs. Did a bang bang of Taqueria Puro Jalisco (food truck on an Eater list) and Pit Room (bangin) when I landed then hit D&Q (solid shop).

Had some St Arnold and Karbach while at Topgolf with work ppl. Luckily most of my coworkers left Wednesday evening so I went to Hugo's with another and then checked out Okra charity bar (had Brash - Milk the Venom, damn tasty) and 8th Wonder (didn't love the beer but would definitely hang out here when going to games).

Then topped it off with lunch at Killen's yesterday before I left. Damn, that beef rib. I also hit St Arnold to kill a bit of time before my flight - cool spot and I'd like to do the pub lunch some time.

Hopefully my work brings me back to Houston, lots more stuff I want to check out.

Anyone else get VIP tickets for the Sputnik release Sunday...? Will be there at 11 to consume my weight in Donuts and Beer.

That's a good trip. I've been hearing good things about Pit Room. Might have to try them out when I'm there next weekend.

Any word in Sputnik cans in the wild yet? I heard this week.

If the tap release at the brewery yesterday was any indication, they're not even gonna be able to get to room temp before they're off shelves.
