Pinthouse pizza, draughthouse, austin beerworks

Pinthouse has consistently good pizza and beer for a great price. I go usually one a week.

Draughthouse has good beer but no food. You can order something delivered or grab food from the central market not too far away and bring it with you.

ABW has a new taproom, haven't been to the update. Previously they have 5-7 beers on tap and a food truck on site.

If you want great food with great food it's hard to find. Hopfields has a limited menu that is ually prepared well, good taps, can be $$$, and can be a PITA depending on day/time. Swift's attic does some fun food (happy hour is best) and usually have some ok taps, bottles, cocktails. I've had a few and am rambling now. Don't listen to me, I don't like going out anymore and live in north Austin.

I know nothing about Austin beer. "meh" is not a ringing endorsement.

Where would be a good place to stop for dinner & a beer?

Food first, beer second options: Contigo, Foreign & Domestic, Odd Duck, Easy Tiger, Via 313, The Beer Plant (haven't been there yet but a local friend and his wife like it)

I thought draughthouse has a food truck on site most days during the week, but it has been a while since I've been there so that may have changed.

Followed usually at like 1 am by a second meal with a gordoughs (sp?) donut feast and lone star pounders.

But I'm a simple man.

We planned to hit this Saturday. we're working a half day Friday which freed up time to hunt for a better place to eat. Brewpubs usually aren't known for great food so I know where my expectations should be. pizza or sandwhiches, we're not complicated people.

Comments on NXNW Brewery? Thinking of dinner there Friday night.
I like NXNW... it's great in that it's a little fancier than normal brewpubs, so it's a great date spot or to bring your parents to when they're in town. I'm also a fan of the food there *shrug* Their Sunbreak IPA is very drinkable. They also are 1 of 2 places I know of in town that will fill anything from a growler to a corny keg with beer to take home (the other being Blackstar).

That said I'd choose Pinthouse Pizza any day of the week, lol.

Has anyone tried the Cherry BBH? Wondering if I should ask for one from my trading partner.
Somebody who purchased a set of all BBH's released said it was watered down. Another review I heard was way too much cherry and needed time.

I thought fresh 006 was a cherry bomb but with time it was great. I haven't tried this year's.

FUN 006 was a cherry bomb when it was first released. Then it mellowed and was really nice. Then it turned bad. Down the drain bad. Had to pour my last 2 bottles out after a little taste. It was just awful.

I got a few bottles and the problem I had with the older ones is they got really really oxydized/wet cardboard tasting.

I thought it was pretty clutch when fresh.

My all time favorite from the series was the chocolate, but I too have heard its recently been cut with the base porter and is a shell of its former self. Unfortunate as that series was a nice "selfie".

Does Sputnik last a while? I'm in town first weekend in Jan. It sounds right up my coffee loving alley.

This is the first time it's been released in cans. Will probably be tough to get in cans first weekend of Jan. I'd be surprised if it lasts to this weekend. Especially since they released a map telling everyone where to find it. So not even the random c-store will escape the wrath of the hoarders.

However, you could probably find it on tap somewhere. Austin Beerworks might even have it on tap themselves still, and you should visit their taproom regardless.

Sputnik will be lucky if it lasts till Friday, lol.

Looks like Round Rock is getting it tomorrow. I'll just wait till tomorrow, cause **** running around.

Wife just sent me a pic of the case of Sputnik she just bought in RR this morning.

She's a pretty good wife.

We'll probably polish this all off before the end of the weekend, lol.

I really need to try this. No way they sent some to Houston right?
