Seconded. The renovation was downright sexy. It makes me want to spend even more money every time I go in there.
I walked in the door a few months ago like

I was way bummed on West Ashley when I had it. I wanted to like it. I tried so hard. :( I guess I just had massive expectations since it was hyped for me for so long.

I did have Map Of The Sun this last weekend, though, and enjoyed it thoroughly.

Glad to see Tilquin will be getting to Texas around the same time as me. I was just telling my buddy how it's going to suck leaving CA where Tilquin, 3F, and Hanssen's pop up with regular frequency.

Countdown to TX is now at 41 days.

Cross-posting this from the ISO:FT forum to get more exposure. Looking to do IP in Houston within the next 10 days.

I'm moving soon-twice, and would really love to downsize the # of bottles I have. Pick any 3 bottles for a Foudreweizen or Golden Blend (preferably 2014 vintage). I can throw in a metric F-ton of growlers of ALL shapes, sizes, breweries, cap/swingtop, plus opened bottles of whiskey (scotch/rye/bourbon) to sweeten the deal.

- JK Coquetier
- JK Ol Oi
- JK Repose
- Schramms Ginger
- Schramms Raspberry
- 2013 Cantillon Belgian Flag gueuze 375ml

If you have something other than Foudreweizen or Golden Blend, I'll hear you out. I'd be extremely interested in almost all recent-batch Fantome beers/Cantillon 750's/fresh 3 Fonteinen Oude Geuze 750's or whatever else you may have.

All closed and done

Where you at? Austin? I may be able to still do that. Have bottles being held for me by cyde, so I do need to make a trip down soon. And I just had a friend agree to hold my beer for me, so I can extend this trade out a bit longer.

Dallas, sorry :(

Aaaaaaaand this is closed. Thanks all!

Ok, I'm lazy and don't wanna sift through 130+ pages of this thread. Looks like I'll have a free afternoon in Dallas on Wednesday. Is there one place I need to check out while I'm there?

Headed to Austin Thursday if all goes well in Dallas, and will have more time to play there. (I will make it a priority to get to Jester King while/if I'm in Austin.)

My #1 recommendation is The Common Table. The food is excellent. The tap list may not be super extensive, but it has been quality every time I've been.

When (not if) you go to Jester King, eat at Pieous. Life changing pastrami and awesome pizza.

Thanks for the rec!
The when is dependent on if I make it to Austin-- If I make it to Austin, I will make it to JK. I'm going out to look at/buy a car. If for some reason I don't buy the car, I'll just fly home and drown my sorrows in CA beer.

JK is closed for tasting on Thursdays.
Also I will be in CA this week, in case you wanted to link up with a Gaucho. Oops.

They will probably let you buy bottles even if they aren't open. You can shoot them an email to be sure; that's what I've done in the past.

Typed three responses, all of which I've had to delete. Your other post says you're coming out in 2 weeks? Did your dates change? Or are you making more than one trip?

I'll be in Austin for a few days. Headed there from Dallas on Thursday, and headed back home to LA on Sunday. So that'll give me plenty of time to hit up JK. :D

Norcal this time. LA/OC in ~18 days.
My brother lives in Pasadena, maybe you can meet up with us at a brewery. I'll post more in the LA/OC thread after this Norcal trip (older brother's wedding).

Good, Austin is great to hang out in, and JK is a must visit!

Perfect! Glad we won't miss each other on both trips! :)

I've been to Austin a few times, but wasn't as into beer, so didn't seek out any breweries when I was there before. Looking forward to that this trip -- and the BBQ!

If you're near downtown Dallas, I think Meddlesome Moth is better than Common Table for both beer & food, though Craft and Growler may be a better option if you just want mostly local beer. If you have the time, have BBQ at Pecan Lodge (I'm not sure how early you have to get there these days) first and then grab a beer elsewhere.

Strangeways is still my favorite beer bar in Dallas.

Check out LUCK if you're staying near downtown Dallas. Great local taplist and lots of food made with beer!

If you're free in Austin, lemme know. My lady and I are always up for a pint.
