Specs and twin liquors both allocated all of their BTAC, Pappy, and OFBB. South lamar drops a single bottle on the shelf at some random time in the evening to boost foot traffic, then rapes on prices. Whiskey is way more ****** than beer and it happened quite a bit faster. Five years ago this **** just sat on the shelves, especially pappy 23.

Not to derail, or start Black Friday frenzy of any kind, but anyone know with certainty if/where any BCBS/variants will be available in Austin on Friday? I dont want to waste my time running around town chasing ghosts. I also don't want to call and harass every store in town, so figured I'd see if anyone has the 411 first.

Since this is now the Texas Bourbon Acquisition thread I'll share my limited knowledge. Specs tweeted that Brodie and Airport will have it in on friday. Didn't see any specifics on if that meant regular+coffee+vanilla or not but hopefully the have some of each.

I would assume Whole Foods should get a decent allotment considering they were chosen as an event for last year but my logic may be flawed there.

Someone forwarded me a Twitter response from the distributor yesterday saying that all variants (other than Prop) are here and all will be available on Friday this year - no delays or label issues. They also mentioned Specs,WF and HEB, but no specifics on which stores.

I'll assume WF and go from there, I guess. I just want Vanilla

Just spoke to a representative at Spec's in downtown Houston to discuss the way they take "reservations" for bourbon.

tl;dr: they don't.

Any bourbon that they classify as "allocated" is sold solely based of Key Points. You get 1 Key Point for ever $1 you spend at Spec's.

"Allocated" Borbons: BTAC, 4 Roses Single Barrel, OFBB, Pappy, etc...

But there are also some bourbon's that are "allocated" you wouldn't think, such as Weller 12.

I asked how many key points the people who got the pick of the Pappy had. He told me that the top person had over $700,000 spend at spec's the previous year, and the top group of people that got Pappy all had over $600,000 spent that previous year.

that explains why when I call to ask about "allocated" bourbons, they never offer to put me on a list.

I told people on here that Specs pulls this crap. None of us can touch that spending. And I had a few people tell me that I was being silly.

My HEB beer guy in Austin said he's getting his in on Monday... So maybe there is still a chance if you missed out. I'd assume he's getting in everything (including Vanilla) as the HEB in Round Rock got it in today...

I'm stuck in a beer wasteland for Thanksgiving. So... Hoping there is some around Austin when I get back.
