I was going to be in Dallas this week for work but Monday morning we took my daughter to the ER (she is fine it was an inflammation in her stomach that shared all the symptoms of appendicitis so we were rightfully worried but it turned out okay) so they switched things up and now I am in San Antonio until Thursday evening on another project. I’m sitting at Anchor Bar in Schertz eating wings and crushing pints of Big Bend Hefeweizen.

I’ll be around town tomorrow evening if anyone wants to get a beer.
Make sure to stop by Weathered Souls.... they always seem pretty solid when I'm in town there, especially in the areas of hazy IPAs and stouts.

I had their West Coast IPA last night and it was an astringent mess. Not sure if it was dirty lines but they told me it was a brand new keg. And also the Big Bend Hefe I drank from the same wall was amazing.

So word is Celis has filed for bankruptcy?
The rumormill is buzzing, but the original post has now been deleted (assuming you're referring to the ALTCB post).

Doesn't make sense to me. There's big investment in that place as far as I can tell. If anything it's Chapter 11 to re-organize. I'm supposed to stop by for the Austin Zealots happy hour tonight, so I'll let you know? lol.

Yeah. Their IPA's are not very good. I of course like the White and I thought the Dubbel Coffee Porter was solid.

I'll miss Big Bend, especially since I'll be in Alpine next week. Hopefully they can make a come back at some point, since it's the whole DME bankruptcy mess that mainly did them in.

Word is Adelbert's isn't doing well these days either.

Yeah, I went to Celis on Wednesday with Lutter They were open as usual. Way to much money tied up in that place from investors for them to shutter so quickly. Dude who started the rumor should be ashamed.

A nice surprise if it does indeed pass. I wasnt expecting anything to happen this session, as the distributors and the legislators in their hip pocket are such scum cocksuckers.

Brewbound reported yesterday that the Beer Alliance of Texas said that "many" legislators have been pushing the distros to compromise with the brewers due to all the negative attention the issue has been drumming up on social media and in the news. They've apparently noticed?

I actually think that CraftPAC did a lot of the leg work here. Things finally seemed to happen when the brewers started playing the game like less like activists and more like lobbyists down the street at the Capitol.

Hopefully it passes. Beer Alliance of Texas is only half of the pie. They also have to deal with the Wholesale Distributors of Texas as well, who have been silent thus far.

Going to be in Frisco Tuesday through Friday morning next week at the minimum. Any places I need to check out beer or food wise? Also down for meeting up for a few if anyone is in the area.

Make sure to visit TUPPS Brewing. It's in McKinney and they make awesome beer. One of the few non-Austin-area breweries I actually consistently buy.

I found this interesting.... Brewery and pub recommendations for Austin in 2005.

Of the breweries mentioned only the Draught House and North by Northwest still exist. Live Oak would have existed then as well (in their little garage brewery on the East Side brewing out of giant milk tanks then), however, they would have only done Saturday tours and wouldn't have been able to sell beer on site.

Here's a tour of the old Live Oak brewery btw... if you never visited. My wife and I couldn't believe that Hefeweizen came out of this hole in the wall, lol.

there were few things in beer better than getting pours of their schwarzer rauch right out of those old tanks.

By the time I made it to a tour in 2013 there was a lot more mold growing on the ceiling in the old location.

This doesn't really do anything but it was nice for the city council to throw it out there to legislators (As the resolution says... Austin has more breweries than any other city in Texas with 40+ just in the city limits)

It's illegal for breweries to sell retail to-go? I've bought 6 packs from a brewery in Waco while I was there, and I've seen multiple breweries in Ft Worth have bottles and cans in their fridges that I'm guessing was for sale.
