The Gingerman Houston opened in 1985. As it grew successful, the owner brought a similar concept to other parts of Texas, and then, after moving back to Manhattan, he opened one there in 1996. As time went by, he would later sell the Texas branches to another party in order to focus fully on the Manhattan branch. Hence the similar names and decor.

Just thought you guys should know there's a blizzard going on up here in NYC. I chose the wrong week to be up here.

The good news is that I just called the Gingerman (apparently many bars within walking distance of my hotel - the subway is planning on shutting down - are closing early) and they said that "it would have to be unreasonably bad before we considered closing early."

So, on-topic: I'm going to the Gingerman tonight.

Does a historic blizzard not count as unreasonably bad or are they just super badasses?

I'll open a bottle when you come to ATX, although that seems infrequent from your posts. Next JK bottleshare? Which might be Zwanze 2015.

Sidenote: I want to mix it with BCBS (Sorry Scott, who hates ABInBev) to make my own version of BCBCS. Taking preorders on kickstarter.

Meh. The snow will only be an issue in terms of getting in and out of the city, but once you're there, no worries. Might as well keep drinking.

Hell I remember when I lived in upstate NY we got 43 inches of snow one night (could barely see my car under the snow) and I still got called in to work. Most people who are used to snow just give zero fux about it, no matter how much there is

If you're a bar in NYC tonight and the power is still on, you gotta be open. I imagine this is gonna be a big night to go out (since everyone is out of work tomorrow).

In Florida, bars are always packed during hurricanes... and that's quite a bit more dangerous, lol.

I think the hype for Abyss has finally been supplanted by all the other limited release stuff. It just hit the suburbs of Houston last week and places were selling it at high limits or just putting it on the shelf. I think it'll be around awhile this year.

well, apparently austin gets it in 2 weeks.

had to "settle" for a sixxer of 2Xpresso, BBH, bourbon barrel stout by anderson valley and some beer called DR15.

1) was freetail coffee stout really good?
2) how much was it and what were bottle limits?
3) like really good that I should trade for it?

Thanks
