They were obviously ill prepared for two separate tiers of the league, opening two brand new expansions at the same time, and supporting pickups between the three. There's been issues of them running out of beer, not having beer to pick up, not having merch to pick up, not having our perks ready, etc.

None of these things are dealbreakers, but they can add up. They're working hard, and I give them that, but it feels like they bit off more they can chew.
I really enjoyed my '17 reward tier getting opened to both current league and then general public.

Everyone seems to be losing love for MT, and yet they continue their rampant expansion with yet another (Santa Barbara) outpost announcement.

Any hot takes on whether they are managing growth/debt(?) in a responsible fashion?

Not to mention transitioning to employee owned. Their pricing on anything but their core lineup is what has turned me away. And isn't the overall distribution footprint still relatively small? Could be helping them manage the expansions.

As was just seen with Green Flash, money is made in taproom/on site sales and less so with expanding distribution. MT seems to have no problem with the former. Instead of shipping beer around the country, they're slowly starting to take over Southern California. People want to drink local, they want a fun place to go, and MT is giving them both.

UNLIKE MOST MT BEERS, THIS IS STAYING IN SOUTH PARK!!!

So it will be extraterrestrial royalty when it goes on at MT locations? =P

Also I am curious what issues have cropped up as well. Minus the membership card thing, I think Steven is working himself to the bone to cover roughly 1k ppl and 3 different pickup locations.[/QUOT

PP finally getting in on the hazecraze bro release. At least it'll be sub $20 for a six pack and not $20+ 4/pk.

Prior to opening up to current members and the public, you had the opportunity to buy as much as you wanted though, so what’s the problem?

Sounds like they’re having an issue keeping pre-ordered beer on site for pick ups, that would certainly annoy me though.

Pretty sure MT didn't even tell us about reward tiers until AFTER the membership began, so it was total gravy anyway. Who cares if the public gets your sloppy seconds...

Correct the rewards were announced towards the end of the year, but we were told to make sure and have our cards so we could collect rewards points. But the reward tiers were presented as an exclusive. They didn't open up embroidery or the tour rewards. And then it took how many months to get the sale ready? Just personally feel I didn't get much in the way of "rewards" for my year of spending. And that is all in how I see the value in my purchases. Again I'm not hating on MT but some other breweries pull similar things and get way more backlash. MT seems to have enough faithful followers that they don't get as much grief.

I don't understand this point. Are you saying people are surrendering their orders? Isn't that a risk of taking orders like this in the first place?

I don’t think we’re on the same page.

My first comment was that I don’t think MT opening up the archive sale to current league and public is something to take issue with, just my opinion of course.

My second comment, unrelated to the first, was that if I went in to pick up cans/bottles I ordered via online sale and they didn’t have them on site during the pick up window, I would be annoyed with that. Of everything I’ve heard people take grievance with for this year’s League, this is one I agree with.

Pretty stoked for the Shredd Session release tomorrow. I was a big fan of the original batch last year, having it in six pack format, sitting in my fridge, will be even more awesome. The fact that it has quite possibly the best can art ever also doesn't hurt.
Whether on fb or here, I think your posts hold more than most others, especially sdreaper.
I didn't know about this release and will now have my minions back in SD pick me up some so I'll have them waiting for me when I'm finally done riding camels out here. I at least experienced my first sand storm, so that was cool

Missed out on trying last night at NHC judging. Also, there wasn't a sdreaper sighting before or after.

Ha, my weekend is full of drinking so I decided that staying in last night and over-eating would be a smarter move, I also had to work a bit past standard business hours for some release/GoLive event that is happening today. Because of that my mood wasn't really a good drinking mood and I likely would have just bitched to whomever I was drinking with about work...nobody wants that.

ION: GL to all the san diegans going to Woodshop today...hopefully all your livers gave you a hall pass.

$40 for BA Traeblod from Mikkeller... well ok then. On top of the $100 ask price for their membership party they've gotta be the most expensive brewery in San Diego, no? Good for them if that's what they set out to do this year??

This in addition to cutting last year's membership a month short.

Priced me out of the game, that's for sure.
