I loooove Mai Tais & other fancy cocktails, but its hard to justify the cost of spirits when I buy so much beer. I drink spirits <1% and drink craftbeer, Diet Dr Pepper, & local coffee (mostly Zumbar) the other 99% of the time.

With fancy liquors, it escalates quickly. I bought good ingredients for Mai Tais awhile ago and spent over $100.

That's really dumb. You can buy great rum for $20 a bottle. Plus orgeat, juice, simple syrup, and curacao... you can make ten cocktails for 40 bucks.

Yup! MaiTais are a good cheap easy drink. I’m making Orgeat right now with ingredients I have lying around. Appleton rum is regularly under $20 and great.

And a real MaitTai is easy.

I make the Smugglers Cove recipe, which is the true recipe IMO. Rum, curacao, lime, simple, orgeat.

Just left Churchill’s and on my way to press some Orgeat! I’ll make a practice MaiTai and a few tomorrow night for MNF if you wanna stop by.

On a side note... good lord the burger I just ate plus tasters and full pours of Pupli and VSS... yeah a MAiTai is on the menu
