The beers were pretty solid all around. I think that Prince of Dankness and the Vice: Pink Guava were my favorites. I was hoping for the black currant one but it was still tagged as coming soon as my little group was leaving. They made the mistake of handing us the remote for their roku tvs in that little cave....oh that was fun.

Hopped over to Lost Abbey for a few tasters. Then over to Plan9 for some grub and beers (had Burgeon From Concentrate....I now believe this brewery will do well since the only other one I had was Treevana and was definitely not a fan), then of course ended the evening outside Peterson's.

Good times.
Anthony is making good ass hoppy beers.

And Wild Barrel just announced that Preston, formerly the head blender at Cascade, is going to be blending their barrel program. Which is great news if you miss his work at Cascade.

Every time I had a great time and learned a bunch of **** at Cascade it was Tom being host. The few times I've been in the same room Preston that wasn't nearly the case. What does "head blender" really mean anyway? Honestly curious who brought what to the table at Cascade. And willing to have an honest conversation about cascade as well. Last I heard in this thread they were not viewed very favorably.

Their new labels are boring As ****.

He did a guided tasting at Toronado during Beer Week 2012 and came across as pretty standoffish. The lineup of beers was fun to taste through but he was reluctant to answer questions and gave incredibly vague information at every turn. If you don't want to talk about your beers beyond regurgitating information that's already publically available, don't send your master blender to do a guided tasting, just throw everything on tap.

I think the fact that the price of their beers went up considerably is responsible for a lot of that, but they also have a fairly one-dimensional flavor profile since they shied away from Brett for so long (don't know if that changed, I haven't bought a bottle of their beer in years). People got burnt out on it and there's a lot more competition in the space now.

Not sure what he was responsible for vs. the other key employees at Cascade, but if the goal is to go in a similar direction to Cascade with the barrel aged sour program at Wild Barrel, I can't say I'd be too excited. I also thought it was a bit amusing to put out a press release saying that an LOI was signed, rather than saying he's actually been hired, but I'm sure they wanted to get his name out there ASAP.

I've always enjoyed Cascade, but never considered their sours top-tier for the fact they lacked yeast character aka complexity (as Xul mentioned.)

At least they're clean and balanced well, which is not the norm any longer.

I'm interested in seeing what gets produced from Wild Barrel.

When did Preston leave Cascade? If it was less than four or five years ago, I'm not that excited to have him in San Diego, or at least North County. I haven't really liked anything I've had from them in years.

And yeah, the new labels are super boring.

Not exactly sure what year but it's been a few years. Cascade's best beers were under him in my opinion. Apricot was always a must buy.

Look a their financials. Anyone who gives them money is a complete moron.
It all sounds like they aren't even sure what the money is used for.

The initial summary says it'll go to building up to six more taprooms...but if you look at the financials they say if they reach their funding goal, they'll have a projected runway of 24 months before needing new capital. So where the **** is this money going?

If it's anything like last year, I wouldn't be surprised if the Barrel Night tickets stay on sale for awhile.

They're losing $150k/month:
MISSION BREWERY, INC. cash in hand is approximately $112,970.28, as of September 2017. Over the last three months, revenues have averaged $404,135.80/month and expenses $551,407.45/month, for an average burn rate of -$147,271.65 per month. We expect revenue and expenses to remain consistent with these numbers over the next 3-6 months.
The whole thing is bizarre. I only skimmed through their Form C, but the fact that they more than doubled their long-term debt during the last fiscal year jumped out at me, not to mention that they lost 3x as much in the last fiscal year as they did the prior fiscal year. I'm not an accountant but that doesn't seem financially healthy...

Guys guys guys....open your eyes...

I invested in Mission because of Dan, first, and second because he makes one of the best beers that I’ve ever tasted. But mainly because of Dan; the guy is a “force of nature.” I have watched him build a business with almost zero capital. He built his brewery in East Village on a literal shoestring of capital infusions. It was a miracle watching him put that brewery together through sheer determination.

First beer in a long while that's actually made me angry. What a ******* mess.

Yeah, I'm all for transparency, but I feel like anybody could look at this and think there is literally no benefit to invest in this.
