I'll talk to him about it next time I see him but I'm sure he would be up for doing it again.

I always thought it was a yearly tradition, no?
I always got the feeling it was an unification o'clock kind of thing.

Funny I mentioned it to him on Sunday and he said he's going to start planning any day now.

Does Abnormal have a taproom that you can visit or is it just the restaurant? Everything I'm seeing is saying taking a group there for beers would not be a good idea? Not to mention it's a bit further away as well...

The taproom side of the place is somewhat small, guess it just depends on the size of the group. Highly recommend the restaurant, anyway, at least for some apps. Great food there, IMO.

Salt & Pepper wings, extra crispy....along with either Boss Pour or a 5pm Session, although I will take #OldMoney if it is on.

There is one large table in the middle of the bar area that can seat 8 comfortably (<-- debateable), otherwise, bar space for about a dozen and smaller tables that can do 2-3 (roughly 3 or 4 of these scattered around)

Edit: As for beers...at least 10 taps for Abnormal and about another dozen and a half for guest. Not to mention a bottle list for onsite consumption. I would go there, just don't expect it to be cheap bar food.

I hope to finally try those wings next weekend. Wish they opened before 3 though haha.

Hot take: I think Abnormal beers are good but they're not a destination brewery yet. Nothing I've had from them yet screams "I need to stop by the tasting room and see what else they have." The fact that they're so far in the middle of nowhere makes that an easy decision too.

I'd recommend stopping by if you're already up there (checking out Stone perhaps), but otherwise there are better ways to spend your time in San Diego.

Thanks for the tips. Tentatively 12 guys and not entirely on the route right now so I'll probably pass.

Planning on getting a driver to take us around. Thinking 11am-4 or 5 pm.

Tentative list is:
1. Stone World Bistro to kick things off and get some grub.
2. Modern Times lomaland
3. Up to Alesmith/Mikkeller/Ballast Point area to make the rounds there.
- I want to swing through Pure Project but may be tough for the whole group.
- Since all these are close I may suggest people can branch out and go to what they want
- if we stay together I'm thinking Mikkeller and Alesmith for sure. Maybe one more but doubt we will have time so then to stop #4.
4. Time permitting stop by Societe and/or Council on the way back.
-probably Societe has priority over Council since some guys might not like sours?

Debauchery around tornado/North park/belching beaver for the night.

I'm only in charge of this one day. What am I missing? Good food opportunities i should work in? Dinner recommendation near North Park area?

Edit: sorry for ****** formatting, on phone.

The only suggestion you need for Dinner

Noted, however you really want to send a bunch of Texas guys to a Cali BBQ joint? I'm sure it's good and all but I dunno about that.

It would be cool to have your opinion about it since it is suppose to be texas bbq. I am told that it is damn near close to Franklin's, but never having had that myself I cannot confirm.

Depending on who is taking you around, beer buses aren't allowed at a good chunk of breweries without prior approval, so you might want to check on what's good and what isn't, especially for 12ppl. Groups around 6-8 you can get away with it since that is a normal size for the san diego "beer gangs" or really just when I go hang out with friends. Modern Times is a flat out no for beer buses. Alesmith is fine...Mikkeller I am not sure but it is a super small lot so just navigating around there might be tough.....especially because on fridays I see a good amount of work trucks from those that just got off the job and didn't feel like traffic.

I definitely do recommend hitting the spots on your list though. Mikkeller's constantly changing board of 18+ a couple casks....they also opened up crowlers to the public but very very limited beers are up for crowler fills right now. Alesmith, well, that is my second home so I always recommend it. When you enter, stop off at the merch counter and get tickets for Anvil&Stave, they are free, they just use tickets to control the flow and # of ppl inside. Pure Project...big meh, haven't figured out the appeal yet and the space is disturbingly small. Societe is a must because Pupil and honestly most of their board #teamHarlot

I'd pass on Belching Beaver in North Park. Fall's a fun local stop for solid beer but nothing spectacular (close though). For food, Tiger! Tiger! should be pretty easy for a big group.

Edit: North Park Beer co would also be a solid food option with good beer available. Enjoy stumbling around the neighborhood, probably my favorite past time! After 10pm on Friday/Saturday, get the street tacos outside of Toronado. Recommend about 5 per person.

Thanks, actually noticed this as I was going through. Gonna put together list and contact them to see if we can visit. Modern times site says they will allow buses sometimes but you need prior approval.

Thanks, at that point in sure it will be just wondering around but I'll see if we can tie in Falls and Tiger!Tiger!

Need strip club recommendations?

I had Grand Ole BBQ and Pecan Lodge (Dallas BBQ) a few days apart last year and it wasn't even close. Pecan Lodge crushed it.

Damn.....ok, nevermind Hookemhops13 don't go there. I still really like GrandOle so I don't want to be disappointed that the comparison is not even close. At least not yet.

Is that the Stone proper in Escondido? If so I'd go to Alesmith/Mikkeller/BP after that - it's kind of in the middle of Stone and Modern Times, and will be a pain in the ass to travel from the Miramar area back down to North Park. If traffic is bad, it would legit save you a couple hours of driving time.

It's also important to note that Alesmith and co may be in all the same area, but they're not right next to each other. Expect a 15-minute walk to each location.

I'd pass on Belching Beaver in North Park. Fall's a fun local stop for solid beer but nothing spectacular (close though). For food, Tiger! Tiger! should be pretty easy for a big group.

Agree with this; North Park Beer's food is ******* great, second only to Tiger! Tiger! when it comes to pubfare. If you want food on the way, stop by Lucha Libre for some solid San Diego burritos.

If you're gonna go to Tiger! Tiger!, there's Eppig/Pariah/other one I can't remember across the street too, who make decent to amazing beer. If any of you are into whiskey, make sure to hit Seven Grand, right next to NPBC. It's a legit whiskey bar, and they have some solid cocktails too - also their happy hour ends fairly late, if you're in the mood for $6 Old Fashioneds.

Oh, and if you're feeling super adventurous (aka you want to die), make the walk to Livewire.
