Hate to ride this train, but opened up two Lost Abbey beers recently, Sede Vecanta & Oldest Viscosity, and got zero pop upon opening. #FlatAbbey!

P.S. Sede was still yummy regardless, but wow is Oldest loaded with whiskey.

From experience, 12 months is the sweet spot for barrel aged strong ale. Wheh places like Lost Abbey and Green Flash release a 18-24 month, I shake my damn head fam. They should know better but they count on most people thinking more maturation the better as if it was single malt scotch.

Speaking of ruining things, I went to AleSmith to pick up Sublime bottles and get a refund for my Old Rumskull bottles. Went seamlessly, but then the guy was talking to me about upcoming releases.

Learned Double Barrel Speedway is coming out in the next 2-3 weeks - and they're heavily considering it being an on-site, in-person sale.

...but don't worry, they should have enough to last through the day!

I love Alesmith but that's a baffling decision. I guess Peter is probably the only person left at this point who remembers the shitshow in 2011 that prompted them to move online, and I have no idea how directly he's involved with these decisions, but **** that noise.

Yeah I have no clue why they would even consider it - BA Speedway's sale may be stagnating, but you better believe a Double Barrel version will create an incredible shitshow.

I also hate hearing "it should last throughout the day" too when it comes to on-site releases, especially when every single brewery who's said that has severely underestimated demand of their beer.

Too bad nobody’s ever developed an online ticketing system where you can buy it from your computer and if you get shut out at least you haven’t waited in line in the sun.

If that is true, **** you Alesmith.

Maybe they'll make it on-site consumption as well. That way when the infection shows they can limit the damage.
