By the way, Ebullition Brew Works opened today in Vista. They fill pours from the bottom of the cup (using magnets) to get a more efficient pour (less waste from foaming). Beers are solid, but not totally clear on the advantage of pouring bottom up vs. top down. Is this going to be the new way to pour beer?

Budweiser pushed something similar at NFL stadiums for a while, pretty sure it's out of fashion now

Needed an excuse to go there. If you go to 2nd Chance, Fall, & Benchmark, you get a free hat.

Meh to all three of those breweries you mentioned. None of them are doing anything to have them "pop" in the SD beer scene. They seem to all be playing it safe.

Aside from the fact that Benchmark makes my favorite american pilsner, scottish ale, table beer, low abv stout, blond ale, all-citra beer, and simcoe-amarillo IPA. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

On a non-beer related topic: Hit up Cutwater yesterday.

1. I felt underdressed
2. A tad pricey but I expected that with liquor
3. Bartenders working there were very nice and quite knowledgeable, although it isn't that hard to be smart about liquor around me since I know about zilch
4. The drink I got, weekend at burnie's, was damn delicious and it might have been the first cocktail I have drank in well over 5-6years. I believe it was habanero vodka, spiced rum, and like three different fruits
5. The space was phenomenal. Relaxing. Multiple areas that were separated either by large walls or the way the furniture was arranged, giving you a sense of privacy if you really wanted it.

I didn't have any food, and only had the one drink so not really a decent review.

What were you wearing?

They might be more of a white jeans and acid washed jean White Snake jacket kinda place. You never know.

Hehehe, well the guys that were in there initially were basically in suits minus a tie and jacket, the women were dressed, also in some suits, skirts, and sun dresses.

Before I left a few others came in that were as shittily dressed as I so that made me feel better, but damn....

Okay, who here signed up for the Eppig Founders 150 Lifetime membership?

What's that? Although I'm probably heading over there soon.
Last time I was there I was def tempted, considering the frequency I get crowlers there these days.

It's their membership that includes first right at upcoming bottles and I think 10% off purchases for life.

Not many doing Marzens besides Amplified, if I recall. Doc Marzen is great. Barleywine-wise, so is Amplified's BA Big Muff (#BiL). The latter is not to-go in 100% form, but they have some blend to-go thats mostly BA Big Muff (plus some Rare Form, their BA Quad). Just looked up a top 100 list of BA English Barleywines on BA the other day and nothing from SD was there. WTF. Surely, we can do better.

Yup. The only positive responses I see are from out-of-towners that can now make it to the tastings. If they leave them at 6pm, that commute will be rough and interfere with Mikkeller's Viking Club members. Although that is less of a concern since technically it would help out the out-of-towners as well since they can do pickups before/after hitting the MT tasting if they have both memberships.

Ah well. Monsters Park preview tasting is probably the last one I will attend, pending whatever time they start the previews at (although I can't believe they would start any later since those running it have a life and probably don't want their friday nights eaten up by running these).

Yeah, the fact that these were on Tuesdays before was a big 'pro' in my consideration of joining League next year. Maybe I'm just getting increasingly anti social as I age, but I'm tired by Friday nights, haha. Places get too crowded. Plus with family stuff all weekend, Friday/Saturdays are just a pain. Oh well... nobody asked me.
