I'm not actually sure why I ask your opinion on beer. It's like asking sdreaper if a new Alesmith release is good

On the real, I was surprised that it was more of a red base (I think?) than just a straight up golden sour base. Peaches and Apricots balanced super well with a little more malt. I liked it.

But then again

I overheard some troubling news regarding the Alesmith/Sublime 40oz. Limits will be dangerously low. Obviously things can change up to when the eventbrite page is posted, but if you wanted to do 40 hands, I would highly recommend having wife/husband/girlfriend/boyfriend/day laborer/anybody else with a credit card at the ready.

limit 1? Damn that's definitely NOT worth the trip. Oh well, I really think they should have just released it in 40's only.

On the Societe sour topic, I had a few bottles sent to me for review. They were very drinkable, but on the tart and sour spectrum, they were very tame. When I had one at Firestone, I mentioned to Doug (benbikes4beer name drop) my observation. He said this was intentional as they were going for balance and drinkability. I mean they could be lacto bombs or fart bombs, so I'm glad at least they are clean in that regard.

That's precisely what I love about them. I can't handle the acid bombs anymore.

I haven't been too impressed with Side Project wild Ales. Granted, I've only had Fuzzy and AdF b2, but they were downright offensive. They both caused instant esophageal burning and heartburn.

I've enjoyed their saisons more, but for being 2 highly hype AWAs, they were pretty disappointing.

Dead serious. Lost Abbey is up there too, but for pure barrel and yeast character, and balance, nothing beats JP.

lol... if i show up on wed (still only a 50% chance), we need to do some blind wild ale tasting with some jolly pumpkin and test your opinion.. haha. i have a grand reserve la roja and a grand reserve biere de mars, but they're only 12oz. both 2011 i believe.

maybe need a 2011 temptation to compare the grand reserve biere de mars with.
maybe an old ass consecration to compare with the la roja.

although the bottles might be too small for a bottle share.

What. A. Tease.

ok, upgraded to 75% chance i can make it. does anyone else have bottles of those grand reserves? the la roja grand reserve i have is 3-13-2012. The biere de mars is 3-4-2013. i don't think vintages matter that much though.

Sebowski and I drank a bunch of old JP stuff back in January, I opened my last la Roja GR then.

how did they hold up

I liked the La Roja GR. We also had a Cinco Anos and that was terrible. Unfortunately I cannot remember too much, Sebo might remember. Too bad there isn't an easy app for me to quickly review beers so I would be able to record my thoughts :rolleyes:or actually I just need an app to remind me to us that app

Every share I swear it will be different. I will record them all so that I can reference later. Half way through the share when food arrives....#nope. I basically lose my phone and magically find it in my pocket and tend to forget what it was I finished the night with.

Good times.
