Who had Intergalactic in the dead pool?

It is with great sadness that I must announce that I will be beginning the process of finding a new direction for Intergalactic Brewing Company by exploring all options, including, but not limited to, putting the business assets up for sale.

This decision was not easy and is made reluctantly. However, over the last year it has become increasingly obvious that the brewery in its current formulation is not able to provide a stable economic foundation for my wife and me to begin the next chapters of our lives.

Our bootstrap operation never had enough capital to start. While we have had some success in growing, we have been unable to facilitate an investment big enough to push our business and brand into a model that makes sense for our lives.

Not having the capacity to modernize and expand properly means we will possibly bow out of the beer industry and seek an alternative for our assets, and potentially the brand, if there are interested parties.

Intergalactic Beer may survive in some form and that is my goal, but without additional capital the current formulation is not sustainable in the long term. At this time I have no definite direction for the brand.

I hope that all of our fans and friends are able to come by over the coming months as we move forward to have one last beer and say goodbye to the brewery as you have known it. It will mean a lot to our staff and I to see everyone again.

My greatest regret is that we may not be able to remain open and keep the amazing people who work for me employed. They are my family and it is with great disappointment i may not be able to support them going forward.

If you have any questions about or ideas for the future of the brewery please contact me at [email protected] .

I hear good things about them, but never went to their tasting room.

Their newer tasting room was worth a visit, went there 3 times and twice when they were at their old spot. Beers were better than average but then there were some misses as well. I enjoyed the theme of the place and now that they are going to be moving on, I am a little sad I didn't visit more often.

I've heard good things and bad; namely, the beer was a little better than average but most people went just because of the nerdy theme/references.

....lol, so basically this

Last time they sent some beers to O'Brien's they were really solid. Also guilty of never visiting them. The Miramar concentration might be too real and they're not really within the walking distance locations farther west. Also that branding might kinda pigeon hole them

Their beers are all solid to good. Definitely worse breweries around. They improved over time as well. The location wasn't great though even though they had a good local following.

From who? That is one of the worst breweries in San Diego county along with Reckless. I'd include Indian Joes, but they are now a C+. They had so many beers with off flavors to put them in my bottom 10%, and I've visited all the breweries in SD county.

That just sounds masochistic

Yeah, its a completely stupid hobby, but I've done it for so long its hard for me to stop. Once in a rare while, I discover something great, but I've visited so many awful breweries along the way. Thrill of the hunt keeps this exciting. Being open minded helped me find places like Burgeon, Twisted Horn, etc.

Societe fest was pretty cool, food was great. I only lasted a couple hours, I can only drink so much Heiress. I found the Thief and Highbinder to be really underwhelming, much like all of their sours so far.

The four new taps they added will pouring farel beers. Thief has some subtle complexity to it. Wondering how Sage thinks Damsel compares to Table Beer.

I agree both sours were pretty mediocre. The Fiddler was awesome though, I think I had 6 pours by the end.

Yeah, it was a fun event. I liked The Fiddler and the new pale ale a lot. The two feral beers were so-so but oh well. I was impressed that the food was still available all the way to the end; it seems like "free" food runs out in 10 minutes at most beer fests haha.

You're high. Real talk that beer is insanely better than B1 and more white wine presence and balance than B1. Edit: sorry I thought you meant Thief

Statesman has a cool OG Pale Ale swerve to it. Can't argue that Fiddler is the new hoppy hotness.

Societe has always been about a balanced and drinkable sour as opposed to a "Bottle Share Hero".

Open invite for Abigigail to flay me for Societe homerism.

If you tell me that Highwayman is underwhelming I will fight you with a broken bottle of Orval.

Ok now I know what sdreaper feels like

Thief was okay. Maybe I meant Highwayman? Whatever the brett beer was? It was bland as ****. I still have only had one good sour out of them (the raspberry one.)

I heard they served a stonefruit one at the dinner - how was that?

Highwayman was the Brett one and I agree that it was really bland and uninteresting. The nicest thing I can say about the Thief is that it wasn't the acetone mess I remember it being 2 years ago?
