I had to look languid. Well done. Could be a 30 point word in a game of Scrabble
Way more than 30 points if you play it right. Playing seven tiles gets you the 50 point bonus. Put that on a triple word score and you're looking at 89 points plus whatever word you built with one of the letters in languid.

Genesee Ave. was massively ****** up this morning with the construction going on. They didn't alter the traffic signals to take into account all of the construction and traffic flow either.

I lolled my ass off when I drove through there the other day. Nice traffic plan.

If the quality's there, should we care? Maybe I'm just a pessimist, but big beer is hated not because of their morally questionable business practices, but because their morally questionable business practices are more publicized than those of Joe Sixpack's ****** underground nanobrewery.

This whole "with us or against us" mentality with craft beer really rubs me the wrong way, because it often fosters a blind sense of camaraderie simply based on common interests. It's a dichotomy that's entirely too rigid and not only hurts craft beer in the long run, but also alienates any of those ambivalent types hardcore.
There's only one way to answer this. sdreaper Alesmith sells out tomorrow. Do you still go?

Yes, you should care. Big beer is looking a decade down the road. They're slowly acquiring regional breweries and building them up. It's a slow churn that will change suddenly.

In SD you may not notice it since there are so many breweries and craft beer bars. In other markets it will severely limit an independent brewery's options. But go ask the owner of your favorite brewery and ask how they feel about it. At the end of the days it's their brewery on the line.
Why can't independent beer do that too?

Or, even better question, what if their 10-year-plan is "get bought by big beer?"

Less capital to work with. Big beer only cares about market share, they don't care how they obtain it. Go read McKeen''s rants on the MT blog. Why isInBev buying craft breweries anyway? To help them out? No, to muscle in and dominate the segment but it takes time. Why is InBev buying homebred supply shops? To influence buyers now.

If a brewers goal is to get bought, that's exactly what Karbach did here locally. Soon you'll see that swill on tap in SD at lesser bars. And for each crafty handle on that's part of the expanding InBev portfolio you'll have one less local craft handle to choose from.

But does it matter if the beer is still just as good? The most recent (and local) example I can think of big bad beer coming in and buying up and things staying the same (even improving) is St Archer.

St Archer can...

Oh, I know you all hated them before the buyout but the point still stands.
Nah, I liked some of their stuff pre buyout. St Archer Pale was always on at dive bars and quite serviceable. It did seem like they were a brewery founded with the goal of selling out though. That and Pete Coors is a piece of ****.

Yeah sellout was very clearly the goal from day one there. Funny thing is they almost opened up here in Ventura.

Their only saving grace is Tusk & Grain; those barrel-aged porters were way better than they had any right to be.

Otherwise, I think St. Archer is best summed up by this shitshow:

Quality is not the point. It's about control and crushing competition, or stifling competition to reduce independent breweries from being able to expand. I have no idea why this point is so hard for you to grasp.

No I get that is your opinion of how things will go down, I disagree. Even if it does happen like that, there will still be PLENTY of delicious beer to drink.

Geez, all this because I'm taking my colleagues to BP? Awright, awright, I won't go!

Wow, just tuned back in. Legit sorry for kicking this into a **** storm of hating. Well maybe not.

If you enjoy BP then by all means visit HenrikO especially given the hour constraints. Wasn't meant as a guilt thing. I echo your sentiments on Green Flash though. Enjoy BP but I will respectfully pass. I might go bug Sebowski if he's back from Ocelot anny.

BP is really nice, but it's insanely crowded once people get off work. Honestly, check out Cutwater. Great cocktails, good food. Or skip them both and just drink BA Speedway until you puke

I'm back! But, I'm still on the bench with my injury. Speaking of Ocelot....

Anyone have a good line on cheap kegerators? I am in need of one ASAP.

My store bought kegerator with its commercial regulator and Perlick faucets must be a POS.
Never seen such a thing personally, all I ever see are the danby and other ****** knock offs with chrome plated shanks, faucets, and ****** regulators. But yeah just make sure all the metal parts are stainless steel and you're set.

Yo' boy nanobrew got his nice 4-faucet keezer on craigslist (I had my sights on that same one, but muthafucka sniped it from me). I got a 4-faucet one my damn self a few months later to help me suck down some Woodshop leftovers (not quite as nice as his, with the tower n' stuff, but pretty cool with a wood collar and faucets coming out of the front). Mine was $450, which is way cheaper than any commercial 4-faucet kegerator would be. I'd vote going the craigslist route for something good, cheap, multi-faucet.

Problem is you gotta get lucky with timing and geography, so the "ASAP" part of your request may be the real challenge. I scoped out the ads for several months before I found one I liked, and still had to drive out to Ventura to pick that **** up (but it has served me very well, with room for 6 sixtels plus 2 CO2 tanks, bottle/growler storage, and including a digital temp probe/adjuster, 4 regulators for individual pressure adjustments, a 20# CO2 tank, all Perlick faucets and fittings, gas and beer lines, and the guy threw in some PBW and line cleaner that he had left over). Even gave me a couple of bottles of his homebrew when I went to pick it up. Not fucken bad.

This looks like a decent one (in Pasadena tho):
