Did it kick yesterday? Had it at Bressi on Friday and agree that it was awesome. Did caught in a rip that afternoon and PtY earlier didn’t let that beer shine. Had a can over the weekend and loved it though so on its own it’s fantastic as always. Just don’t compare it to the OG.

I don't know but I can ask Joe. I do know they had three kegs going and one kicked while I was there.

The madness around it seems to be waining (sp?). But it still draws a crowd and goes pretty quickly. Bressi didn’t last until dinner time on Friday.

I feel like there is still a hardcore group of Younger drinkers who chase it around. I got two pours and I'm good for the year. I would rather try the competition at this point.

Make sure and get some rip current. I really enjoyed both the draft pour and the can. Not Pliny but certainly a beer that can hold its own.

Is there a thread on talkbeer about Beer Advocate being sold to the Untappd owners? I can't find one. Anyway, I'm more interested in what you SD people think about it.

I wonder how much the brothers got out of the deal. It doesn't seem like BA would hold much value at this point with their magazine dead and forums dying off everywhere.

I also wonder what Next Glass will actually do with the assets they purchased. M&A announcements of "we're joining forces, everything will be the same" never work out that way.

first thing they should do is shitcan the Bros, Candace, and all of their mods.

I liked how someone asked if they regret banning so many people over petty stuff and Todd tried to downplay it, saying they only banned like 300 people and that most of the people who were banned were reinstated, which confirms it was over petty ****.

I wonder how different that community would've been if they didn't have such thin-skinned moderators.

I still use untappd, but it is infrequent. I try to use it whenever I am at a share, but....I usually forget about halfway through when the beer starts to hit. =P

On one hand it's a great tool for personal use to look up beers you forgot you had or forgot your opinion on them. On the other it can be hard to keep up and can interfere with either your enjoyment of the beer or the company you are with.

Yeah, that is why I don't constantly keep using it. It takes away from the people around me that I should be shooting the **** with.

I posted the same thing on the actual announcement thread and they deleted it. Absolute children

Untappd brings over 100 talented coworkers, killer app development, and powerful sales and insights to the table. BeerAdvocate brings... our "Respect Beer" motto.

Untappd really getting a lot for its investment.

It got brought up in the random beer thoughts thread. I just love how they call out the are bringing their motto like it’s some high level brand identity.

They’re the apparently the most populated Beer Forum! And yeah they have a few events they run? That might be the reason to buy them if for the events as that Untappd festival last year was a cluster.

Agree, my second sock account got banned because I said I wasn't sorry for calling a certain someone at a certain brewery a certain deragatory name for a female. She is one, so I am not sorry for saying it.

Headed to Alpine at lunch to pick up Expo bottles and gave some their OGs another try. This batch of Hoppy Birthday is fire; closest to the original that I can remember. Got a growler of it for sure.

This batch of Nelson, however, is hot ******* garbage. Little aromatics, muddled profile, and a finish that was excessive on the cat piss. What the hell happened to this beer?

Expo is also, just, I don't know - meh? Younger and Expo are just polar opposites in every day. The former is tight, deliberate, and elegant in execution - and the latter just feels phoned-in. It's malty sweet and hot as ****, and doesn't really make an effort to integrate both.

It's like Russian River makes Younger because they're proud to put in the effort, while Alpine still makes Expo because they're obligated to.

Hmm... taking off work tomorrow since family is in town. Might have to head up the hill for HB.

How they tasting?

Deliverance tasted a slight hint of oxidation to me, which I thought was weird for draft, but who knows...brandy has definitely taken over. Still a very very delicious beer.

DDG'16 tastes just like 19 did when it first came out. Not sure why it has taken '16 so long to get to that point, but meh, it finally got there. Also very delicious.
