Speaking of Burgeon, I drank 3 pints of Carlsbad Crush at Toro yesterday. That beer *****.
Heading over to Societe soon. Cans of The Harlot plus The Roustabout is back.
Saw someone ask on IG when they are available and they said early Feb. Did you hear they are releasing today?
Added bonus you can get $2 off 3mo old cans of pupil as well!!
Correct, they were canned the first or second week of January IIRC.No it’s a different run, not the original batch.
How many of you are in line for Younger at Toro?
I think the only line I've stood in for younger was up at Encinitas Ale House when I was trying to redeem my ticket for a pour.
Last year was the best I remember in recent memory - not all that sweet, with enough grassy tones and a dry finish that was pleasing to the palate.I don't recall it tasting the same any year I have had it. Past 2 years it was a tad sweeter that I would have wanted it. Figure I will try this year in a week or so. Might get lucky and walk in to O'Brien's the night of the keg they put on quietly. Otherwise I will do the EAH keg once they post when it is going on.
Grandmaster Fu is fantastic as well, and I’ve been drinking a lot of Burlingame lately.I feel like I've said this several times over the past year, but the current batch of Hop-Fu! might legitimately be the best yet. NPBC's hype has shot through the roof with the Before Dying series - with good reason, as those are phenomenal beers - but I continue to be impressed with how hard they're crushing it across virtually every style they brew, most of which are considerably less sexy than pastry stouts.
Disclaimer: I don’t know you outside of your posts here. But, hasn’t the transition been completed already?Perhaps this is the start on my transition to becoming a curmudgeon.

Toronado's Younger tapping yesterday was most definitely a hassle. Two lines somehow became one, and when the line started curling outside, they stopped letting people in - even though the far register only had about five people in line. Door guy cited "capacity issues," but there was plenty of open space to walk around, and there was probably only like ten people out in the patio. Besides, I can't count how many times I've been shoulder to shoulder at that place and no one's given a ****. Twas certainly one of those signature Toronado shitshows that I may miss when it goes away.Had to run the dog to a vet appointment in Encinitas yesterday and conveniently EAH was pre-selling cards for Younger pours this weekend to their 80in80 members. So I will have my younger pour up there this sunday. Yay! (...I guess) Almost feels like a hassle nowadays than something fun to seek out. Perhaps this is the start on my transition to becoming a curmudgeon.
This’ll help with some of your questions: https://www.talkbeer.com/community/threads/san-diego-visitors-guide.2069/Hey fellas, never been to California before but visiting from Ontario, Canada TOMORROW (Saturday, Feb 15) through Saturday (Feb 22) and staying in Oceanside, with day trips planned for Legoland and San Diego Zoo (needless to say, I'm a dad). I'd really appreciate if someone could take a minute or two to plink out a short and sweet answer for me on:
1. The BOTTLE SHOP(S) where I should pick up my week's supply of beer (Oceanside/Carlsbad area preferred as I can't guarantee I'll have the ability to pick up in San Diego, though a San Diego recommendation would also be appreciated).
2. Best BARS (preferably within a short drive of Oceanside/Carlsbad).
3. Best BREWERIES (Oceanside/Carlsbad region).
4. Best BEER DAY TRIP if I were to drive somewhere within an hour or so in order to hit a cluster of great breweries/bars/etc.
Bonus points for must-visit restaurants in Oceanside/Carlsbad.
Thanks in advance! Cannot wait for this trip.

Eat at Wrench & Rodent, Campfire, Jeune Et Joliet (something like that) to get the merit badges for carlsbad/oceanside eateries. Sage really does have the best guide. Hit burgeon beer, pizza port bressi ranch, and eppig’s new location.Hey fellas, never been to California before but visiting from Ontario, Canada TOMORROW (Saturday, Feb 15) through Saturday (Feb 22) and staying in Oceanside, with day trips planned for Legoland and San Diego Zoo (needless to say, I'm a dad). Modern Times Encinitas has a great selection as there are some new Hazies (DDH Dinosaur World/Finally Open in LA) plus tons of other options. The Tap list is great (http://www.moderntimesbeer.com/tasting-room/encinitas). Honestly this plus either Pizza Port Carlsbad or Pizza Port Bressi Ranch to cover WCIPA's is really all you need. For bottles, I would go down to Bottlecraft Solana Beach, as they have a great selection (including 3F) and also a great tap list (https://www.bottlecraft.com/pages/solana-beach)Sage and pugsandsuds Thanks for the great tips, guys! Thought of one more great question which I think is well suited to this thread:
What will be the best bottles/cans to pick up this week? Any exciting new releases coming up in the coming days or recently out? And what are the tried and true favourites out there - in my neck of the woods, for example, you’d be told to load up on Michigan’s Old Nation M43.
Though New England IPAs are the favourite of our group, a few good barrel aged stouts are also a must (and sours for me personally).
Thanks again. Happy to report back on the trip if anyone’s interested.
Did it kick yesterday? Had it at Bressi on Friday and agree that it was awesome. Did caught in a rip that afternoon and PtY earlier didn’t let that beer shine. Had a can over the weekend and loved it though so on its own it’s fantastic as always. Just don’t compare it to the OG.Had a torturous one minute wait for Younger at Stone last night. Have to agree with what a few of you said, it's certainly a great year for it.
