Checked out Culver Beer Co today with some work folk, not awful! First new brewery I’ve been to in the last year or so where I found myself wanting to return. Any other fun new-ish places people have frequented more than once? Aside from Eppig, Resident, and Burgeon, I can’t think of any brewery that’s opened in the last 2-3 years that I find myself at. To quote a great philosopher, I guess this is growing up?

Yeah, most of their sour beers are DIS GUST ING . Liked a Barleywine they did tho, a LOT.

Probably one of the more dissappointing bottles I've ever had was when the made Sila Stout. I had heard so much about it from year's past, I was stoked to try it. It was terrible. Totally off. When I asked, they said it was fine. Been leery of them since.

Also Ned Hall, my collab pils with Thomas, is back on draftand tasting excellent. And his 2017 Alpha King winning beer Thizz What It Is is one of the best DIPAs I've had awhile.

Thizz is a new batch? It was really good last time I had it.

Few things I tried yesterday that were stand outs...

Thorn Got Nelson? IPA
Cracker bread Pils maltiness with pungent danky Nelson shining through nicely. Solid West Coast mineral dryness in the finish.

Mother Earth/Melvin Four Seasons Spring 2018
Old school West Coast hop bomb, guava and orange pith hop flavors with firm bitterness.

That was probably the first red flag that Green Flash might have been losing their ******* mind. I guess they had less "yield" than they expected (i.e., a good amount of their barrels got infected), so they decided to blend in fresh Silva with it all before bottling. And it had to have been a good amount, considering the blend was nearly 50-50 BA and non-BA.

The worst part there is that they had some of the 100% barrel-aged on tap during the release day under a different name, and the difference between that and Silva was ******* night and day. It was pure greed and, I don't know, idiocy to ruin such a good beer like that.

My favorite Green Flash memory: When they were blowing out cases of Jolly Folly bombers for $20. Nobody needed that much Jolly Folly but the deal was too good to pass up.

Anyone go to either of the padres games this weekend and can report back on beer there? I really hope Speedway Stout is available somewhere in the park.

Didn't all the pours on field level used to be 20oz? On Saturday I paid 13.75 for a Chasing Citra and I swear that cup was 16oz...

I thought the ones on field level were always 16oz whereas going into one of the bar areas would sell you 20oz for like $1 more. And I did the same on Thursday. Chasing Citra was my "walking around" beer as I was checking out all of the new stuff.

I'm going to start bringing a plastic flask in there. Prices are completely absurd. $12 "craft" cans of Ballast Point.

**** outta here
