What are people's thoughts on Brooklyn Half Ale? Ratings on Untappd are kinda low but I tried it last night and I thought it was great, totally crushable and cheap saison. Finishes dry and refreshing with a kick of citrusy hops.

Color me intrigued, but your description gives me the fear of using 3711 as the sole yeast and getting a one dimensional boring beer.

Which can still be good if hopped like a West Coast / NE IPA (read lots of late addition / dry hops).

tombstone is incredibly hit and miss with their barrels. this is a huge hit, like a clutch three RBI double. a good bit of residual sweetness and very grape-y, but dry enough it doesn't tire you out. the oak and brett are well balanced. this was from June 2017 barrel society and I held on to it because of reported carbonation issues

Straw. Spice. Lactic. Fruity.

Light lactic acidity and a great complex aroma of cut hay, fruity esters and restrained black pepper phenolics that blends perfectly into the flavor, mild bitterness with a bit of classic spice/herbal character. Finishes dry and nicely carbonated, and a great start to what I hope is an entertaining Men's National Championship game this evening.

Cheers!

Great saison from a brewery that I feel doesn't get much attention since it is in Western MA. Per the label, it's blend of some of their favorite barrels.

Lemony funk and damp earth in the aroma with all the signs of barrel fermentation. Bright farmhouse tang and a citric tartness, but not sour. Lemon and fresh orange are followed by damp grass and green foliage. Clean barnyard funk and soft chardonnay oakiness.

Shh shh shhhhhh let's keep Western Mass a secret

Your description sounds delightful. I'll have to keep my eye out for that.

I need to find this one. Every time I see someone's tasting notes I'ts right up my alley.

The best word to describe this beer is: balance.

Lightly tart like a margarita. Slight salinity and a wonderful lime zest note even at a year and a half old. I can't imagine what it was like fresh. So dry and so refreshing. Carbonation is perfect as well.

It still retains Saison-like qualities but also has the highlights of the lime and a light minerality from the salts (and that typical mineral character of HF beers.) I could crush this over and over again.

*edit: btw it is becoming increasingly hard to just post pictures now days.

No pic cause lazy, but started getting into the Thorpe created beverages. Had a Lemon Guava Saison Avec and both myself and my friend I opened it with were blown away. Just a prefect beer and I say that with some irony since I generally do not like a ton of citrus notes in any beer but that just worked so well, clean, bright, mild funk and just the faintest hint of lemon ptih/zest. I would drink gallons of that beer if I had access to it. Pumped to get into some more offerings. As I said yesterday Mike, amazing beer dude, cheers!

FTFM.

So would I.

Granted, I *could* just drive the hour each way to get it, so I can't really complain, but...I will be infinitely psyched when there is a city option for pick up :)

Little Saison Sunday session today.

Upright had a really cool finish with the Vermouth casks becoming more prominent as it warmed.

Speciation beer was a lovely surprise. Never had anything from this brewery but this was a super tasty beer. Bone dry from the Brett and looked amazing in the glass. The cork shot half way across the yard when I popped it.

Cask 200 was brilliant as always. I love SARA and this was no exception. Fantastic minieralty on the mouthfeel with just the right splash of acidity.

Killer.. Could drink a whole lot of this. A few months ago was clean Dupont-esque saison, but has developed into a tart slightly funky and high carb banger! Loving everything Cellador is putting out.

Had to do a double take as it looked like a Saison DuPont at first.

This beer is so killer. Definitely my favorite BFS I've had and one of my favorite beers overall. Has that lemon lime character I love in a brett Saison.

Tots agree. Picked up a bottle for thr first time at a large chain grocery in 2017 while on vacation in Hilton Head. Bar none best grocery stored bottle ever purchased. Mind blown, and triple-so as I just wanted a servicable beer. Didn’t expect world class.

Went back next day and got a case. Easy decision.

Though, green bottle and associated light struck hop decomp has turned some off of the bottles I brought back. More for me i guess. Makes me happy. This beer nails it, so much so I restocked in 2018. Other BFS beers have been good, but none the equal of Brand New Eyes, IMO.

And that price... in the $9 range (!) in South Carolina, which makes for a killer value.
