I've got to give these guys some more love. Their saisons and wilds have really come around since I first tried them a few years ago. Life's Trade has an excellent balance of acidity, minerality, citrus zest and a slightly creamy mouthfeel.

Had one a few days ago at the brewery and couldn't agree more. Trve is hitting on all cylinders lately.

This Saturday at both @SideProjectCell & @SideProjectBrew, to-go Shared Saison Nouveau starts! All stainless version of Saison du Fermier!

I'm intrigued. Either that'll be a very solid beer that I may actually like better than recent batches of fairly tart/acidic SdF OR it's a marketing ploy to sell these bottles faster than Table Nouveau.

Did they change their yeast? Most of the Side Project stuff I've tried has been really disappointing and overly acidic (especially the fruit stuff). I remember the first batch of SDF being amazing, though that may just be my mind playing tricks on me.

I was told that Table Nouveau is just BdP without the bugs or oak, I'm guessing Saison Nouveau is the same deal with SdF, but maybe with some SP culture

I'm not sure if it was the first batch, but the SdF that was on tap during WLV's 2013 Zwanze day was absolutely incredible.

Yeah... This is fantastic. Like a farmhouse Pilsner. Super crisp, nice zippy hop character, and seems very dry. I wouldn't change a thing on this beer and it is a nice contrast to the more acidic SP beers I've had.

That sounds really great! What hop did they use?

I believe it was Motueka, but I might be wrong. Maybe Rakau

I could definitely see either one. I didn't get the lime character I typically get in Motueka but it's fruity a little maybe more citrus. Damn, wish I had another bottle to pick through slower haha.

A little saison sunday action yesterday

First time having E. Started with that one. Drinks lighter than 7%. Expected more from the galaxy hop. Lemon/lime light tartness. Decent amount of Brett funk and grassy bitterness. Brett came out more as it warmed. Definitely easier drinking the second glass as it got closer to 60 degrees.

Latest batch of Brother Soigne as far as I know. Got it with the E. a month and a half ago or so. Got more of that tea like quality from the hibiscus addition. You get a light fruity tartness from the lime/blood orange but no distinguishing fruit flavors. Dry and light. Not the greatest batch of BroSo I've had. Super solid still.

Batch 4 on the JK BdM. Honey notes basically gone. Dry and refreshing. Nice restrained Brett character. Clean strain.

Good beers on a beautiful day.

Saison thread on Page 4!?

Fonta Flora Bloody Butcher (Appalachian Grisette Ale Brewed with Heritage Red Corn)

I'm of the mindset that modern Grisette is a nice homage / marketing gimmick (depending on the producer and amount of ******** on the label) for lower alcohol, crisp, hoppy saison.

This beer was a light 5.2% highly effervescent crisp saison styled beer, black pepper phenolics, light lactic touch, light funky Brett character that floats between fruity and funky. Moderate amount of bitterness and a fair bit of floral / spicy hop aromatics as well, and I really enjoy the way the corn lightens the whole thing while adding a touch of "grainy-ness" to the beer. I'm a fan of this one and it's probably the best Fonta Flora beer I've had to date.

Just had my first Fonta Flora last week and I'm a fan! I'll post notes later!

A shop I stopped by this week had a case of Goose Island Halia '16 marked down to $8.99/btl. Apparently they got the case by accident, don't carry AB and just wanted to get it out of the shop.

I'm not a AB supporter but you can't beat Halia for $9/btl.
The sisters are all great. Went to the Block Party last year and drowned in those while my friends had to do huge lines to try that Aunt Jemima-flavored Prop.

I just opened a bottle. There is a lot of peach in this batch. I might have to go clean out the rest of those bottles from the shelf.
