I have a friend heading to Canton from Chicago who is looking for suggestions for any bottle shops in the area that have a great selection of stuff he can’t find in Chicago. He will be hitting Fat Heads for sure but any brewery suggestions would be appreciated as well

I live in Canton. Fat heads canton is cool. Royal docks has a decent happy hour. Half off flatbreads (Cuban 1 is pretty solid) and $4 drafts. Couple more recent places opened up that I still need to visit. Shale brewing (north canton) and paradigm shift (Massillon). If you like mead, check out Crafted in Akron. If healthy tasty food is your thing, then check out BAM.

Staying at the Downtown Columbus Hilton tomorrow night thru Wednesday. Work conference ****. Planning to hit Wolf's Ridge, Seventh Son, maybe Elevator, maybe Barley's? I'm lazy and haven't done a ton of research.

Looking for suggestions. What's a place with good food & a good/great taplist that I could take non-beer nerds & pull it off as just a good place to eat?

I get in around 10pm tomorrow night. Any decent spots open late night Sunday near there? Gonna need some food and hopefully some decent beer. Or just spots near there where I can grab some beer to go.

You can skip Elevator, Barleys is mediocre beer but awesome smoked wings and sauerkraut balls. There’s a solid bottleshop in the North Market which is right behind your hotel. I’d hit Hoof too if youre going to Seventh Son. For restaurants w solid taplists to take beer normies I’d recommend Pies and Pints, the Crest, the Walrus, Tip Top, Bodega-all walking distance or cheap uber distance. Theres a free bus that goes up and down High St every 15 min called the CBus that would work well for you.

The food at Wolfs Ridge is also great. The front restaurant doesn’t have a tap room vibe at all. It’s on the pricier side though

The Half Pint is also a decent option right around the corner from the hotel

I wanted to hit Hoof, but they're not open again until Wednesday afternoon, and I'm hitting the road around noon on Wednesday.

Surprisingly, the bar at the hotel has a pretty solid taplist. Had a few pints of Seventh Son The Scientist last night. I was impressed.

I thought the food at Wolf's Ridge was great. We ate in the more expensive/fancier front room. The beer was good but unremarkable, IMO.

Also ended up going to Barley's since it was right by the hotel (meh). I thought the beer bar / bottle shop in North Market was really cool. Wandered thru Short North as well. Ended up at Bodega, and was shocked by the awesome happy hour (half price beers from like 4-8pm). There are a crazy amount of bars that looked pretty good on High Street, but only made it there. Also stopped at Char Bar since it was right next door to the hotel. It was good to see a classic dive bar amongst all the new money hipster bars.

Ate at Bodega and grabbed beers at Seventh Son and Wolfs Ridge. Solid beers at both.

I'll be back in Youngstown (Boardman, technically) on Friday for a week. Any good newer pilsners I should be on the look out for? I'm hooked on Pfriem and Heater Allen out here, and hoping to find something to get me through the early season heat/humidity coming next weekend. If not, it'll probably be a Dortmunder Gold kind of weekend.

Also planning to hit the new(ish) Birdfish location, and will definitely make a stop or two at Noble Creature. Not sure if anyone around here has been to either place, but they almost make a trip to Youngstown worthwhile. Almost.

They're helles lagers rather than pilsners and they're kind of older recipes, but I think Fat Head's Starlight and Columbus Brewing's Summer Teeth are both worth a shout. They're both really dialed in this year and will be two of my go-tos this summer.

Haven't had Summerteeth for several years, but they called it a kellerbier last time I had it (2012, maybe?). I'll be on the lookout for both though.

Yeah I believe they've been clearing it up for a few years now, though it's still listed as a kellerbier on Untappd and other sites since that's what it originally was. I think I slightly prefer it to Starlight and it also may be easier to find fresh since it was just bottled at the beginning of the month. Starlight though does have the advantage of being in cans.
