Also Shaun tweeted last night that hop forward beers will not be leaving VT. Likely to see stouts/porters/saisons but even that will be on a rare occasion

If it's anywhere near as good as the first batch of Wild 1, I think it'll definitely be worthwhile to go.

Full disclosure: I have a bit of a soft spot for Brooklyn, as they were my intro to craft beer. That said...

From their regular lineup, I think Black Chocolate Stout is a great beer that doesn't really get talked about because it's fairly ubiquitous for a few months out of the year, Blast is a very good IIPA that I'm glad to see in four packs, and the year round Belgian 750s are also very good (though I don't care for draft Sorachi Ace). I think their Brewmaster's Reserve beers are often well executed.

I also think that a lot of the best/most interesting stuff they've done has been ghost bottles for the most part, and haven't been tried by many people. The Cuvee Croquet Rouge beers (Local 1 on different wine lees with brett) and Cuvee Elijah (bourbon barrel aged black saison) have been excellent when I've tried them in the past. The only real miss for me has been the kriek, which tastes way too clean, almost like one of the year round New Glarus beers. The Pappy barrel aged Local 2 they made for 11 Madison Park was spectacular.

tl;dr: I don't think many people have gotten to try a lot of Brooklyn's best beers in the past, and I'm looking forward to BQE hopefully changing that.

Got some info on Wild Streak - it's Wild One (or a recipe very close to it) aged for a year in used Black Ops barrels, then aged further in bottles. I'll probably be at the release.

Yeah, my understanding is that it won't be exactly the same as Wild 1, but close. Wild 1 started as a batch of Local 1 that didn't quite ferment right, and I believe it was dosed with brett in the barrels. Wild Streak's base beer is a slightly modified recipe from Local 1, and I think I read that brett wasn't added until bottling.

Agreed that I'm a fan of Black Chocolate (especially for the price). Blast is a good enough beer. Reminds me of Double Jack/Hoptimum, but I do think the pricing is off on it. What was the other DIPA they had when Blast came out? Detonation? I remember really enjoying that at the time.

Detonation was a Brewmaster's Reserve release a couple years ago. Blast had already been out for a while, but Detonation was basically Blast on steroids (I think it was around 10.5%ABV).

I only know this because my friend was trying to bang the cute dumpling girl the whole night, and then she disappeared. He ended up settling for a dry handy from her "meh" looking friend instead.

Finally started listening to Beer Sessions podcast (my friend has been on a few times, but just never saw the need to fire it up). Really enjoying it. Hosted by Jimmy Carbone (Jimmy's 43) every Tuesday night at 5pm from Roberta's. Really really interesting look into the NYC beer scene, talking about everything from starting up breweries, bars, stores, and just generally Jimmy and whatever brewers, bar owners, etc chatting about beer. I've blown through like seven or eight episodes in the past day.

Those were very tasty last night. I wasn't a big fan of the new ipa they put out - Pruno? Kind of bland, not up to their usual standards.
