I'm glad you clarified this because this is much more what I would be interested in. From what I had read before in this thread and the other I thought you were going to set it up so that everyone brew the exact same recipe. If we can tweak a recipe but still stay within style I would love that a lot more. Besides you can only tweak a recipe so much and stay within style to begin with. I think Bernie Brewer was thinking along the same wavelength as well.

Like you said, it would be great to post a recipe, someone else read it and actually taste it to put two and two together. I'm feeling this now! :D

I like the idea of posting a recipe after the style has been chosen, and then allow the freedom to make tweaks and additions as desired.

Then with the swap (if you so desire) you can compare yours with the others.

Sorry, I wasn't trying to be a jerk or anything, but I thought it was pretty clear that part of the intent of this was to do swaps. See how others who made the same brew as you did, and see what you can do to make yours better.

After looking back, I can see that it's not entirely obvious.

Lol I totally agree when I'm doing most of this typing it from my phone so part of the calrity issue in my threads is due to that. The other it my laziness to not re read my own post before posting. Anyways I'm looking forward to seeing who's the winner. Keep the votes comming!

So, you guys think we can post the poll one month. Then the next month we all brew it up the next month? Where would we get the starter recipe? A Jamil recipe? Or from a book?
This is a good idea though. Would be cool to brew up a porter or brown. Haven't done either of those yet.

Im looking forward to seeing how this works out. I like the swaping idea of the same recipes. Good feedback from likeminded brewers would be great.

glad to see the interest here, and plenty of votes. I'm pumped for this just need to clear out one of my 3 primarys. :ban::rockin::rockin::rockin:

Went for a scotish!
Had a scotsh ale before and wow!! Its getting cold outside and having a 9% beer would be a nice way to warm up from a cold spell outside workin :)

I'm pumped for this. So once we agree on the style are we all doing the same recipe? I've been kinda out of the loop lately

Checkout the linked thread on first page, but everyone will submit recipes according to the style and I'll put them up for a vote on the best extract and all grain recipe. Once they get voted themost votes will be the brew of the month and everyone who wants to participate will brew that recipe, but will be allowed to tweak it to make it unique to their preferance.

Alright, it was down to the wire, but by one vote porter was the winner. Now that we have a style we need a recipe. The only guide lines for this will be that if you submit a recipe you must submit an all grain and extract version, if there is software or a place which will do the conversion please PM me and I will enter the recipe so we have either missing part. Also you must give your recipe a name so it can be easily viewed and referenced. I'm going to post a link to a new thread so everyone who is following this can easily find the recipe post. I will run the recipe submission post for 1 week. It will end on Saturday night the7th at midnight. A post with a poll on the winning recipe will then start. Now get your brains working and let's see if we can come up with something amazing!:mug: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f14/brew-month-1-porter-recipe-submissions-144540/#post1647631

I missed this thread in October so I didn't vote. I would have voted for Brown Ale. I love the complex taste of Brown in the cold months and I like to bottle it and drink it in the basement temps.
I will brew a Porter when it gets colder (Dec, Jan) because I like Baltic Porter with Lager yeast.
