wait...they released zapata bot again?

Hahahahahjahahhahahahhababahhaha

My buddy purchased more than a case of it last time it was released because they were not selling. I visited the brewery a couple weeks (or months?) after it was released and asked them what they thought of the beer and how it turned out. Rob specifically said something along the lines of "that experiment was ******* terrible, we will NEVER do that again."

Lol, that's hilarious (and sounds like Rob). I actually thought this batch was pretty tasty although I'd rather just drink regular Bot. The barrel is VERY light.

Someone will hopefully correct me if im wrong but I believe this is how batch 1 went down.

They got 2 wet tequilla barrels. Literally turned one of them over and collected a pint of tequilla out of it. They opted to not dump the remaining tequilla out of the other barrel.

When they bottled it, they didnt blend the 2 barrels together. They just did 1 then the other. One barrel (the not dumped one I assume) tasted like dirty, dirty carbonated tequilla with no beer aspect about it. The other barrel tasted like what you might expect a tequilla barrel aged DIPA to taste like...hoppy bitter but with oak and vanilla present.

I still have bottle(s?)...too afraid to open it/them.

Yikes. The few bottles I had were good. I think it took them a few releases to get barrel aging down (first BA IST was also not good).

I do remember them saying the first tequila barrel they got had some kind of chemical in it (or something like that). Completely unusable.

I tried some Zapata on tap at Prime16 last night. A lot better than the bottles I had from the first go around and I think I had the good batch back then. Kicking myself for not going to pick up bottles now.

The cask Coffee Ghost Pigeon was crazy good too.

What about it...?
I know an old keg was on tap at Eli Cannon's last night

I was asking what it was. I should have been more specific.

Did anyone fill growlers yesterday? I went around 3 and got Fat 10, GBot and Locust Reign. They were out of Ghost Pigeon and running very low on Locust.

There were about 15-20 people behind me in line so I wouldn't count on Locust Reign being available. It didn't sound like they had more kegs of it.

I wish I could've been at the Eli Cannons tap takeover on Fri. I love their hoppy beers but I really want to try Ghost Pigeon and Stout Trooper. And that which shall not be named... :D

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Locust came out again? That sounds good for rotating availability, then, right? Last batch was what, earlier this summer? Man, that beer was great.
