Also saw that One Eyed Betty's is looking to franchise in the future.

I like what they do there. OEB > Hopcat.
Best thing I ever did was sign up for their “club” when it opened. 50% happy hour from 4-6. No exaggeration, it saved me thousands of dollars. Used to go for happy hour two-three times per week. If a fancy beer was $14, I’d get it for $7.

Loved that place.

I was a friend of Betty for the few years I was there...And don’t recall signing up. I clearly went too much waiting for my gf to get out of work. Great place.

Hey guys, I'm doing a road trip lif that starts in just over a week, hope you'll offer a guess! Me and my boys will be headed your way!

https://www.talkbeer.com/community/threads/bigfranks-fathers-day-road-trip-6-0-penn-oh-mich.41421/

Okay, let's do a LIF for this trip! I will be traveling from August 10th through August 20th with this schedule:
Fly into Philadelphia
Drive from Philadelphia to
Pittsburgh
Columbus/Dayton
Detroit
Grand Rapids
Cleveland
Back to Philadelphia.

I'm picking up the rental from the Philadelphia train station if you really want to get nitpicky.

Here is the lif. Guess the total number of miles traveled on my rental car during my trip. Closest number wins even if it's higher. If for some wacky reason there is a tie, the tiebreaker is the total number of stamps gained in my National Park passport. Entries will be accepted up until August 9th. Winner gets a box of whatever beer is in my fridge at home.

Feel free to add your best Midwest gif.

My GF mentioned to me that airfare from Trenton to Detroit was stupid cheap in the near future, so I checked and confirmed that that was in fact true. I am now considering flying out for the weekend of Zwanze Day and the Schramm's Anniversary. Assuming I get a ticket for the Zwanze thing at JP, what is the typical shitshow factor at Schramm's for something like that, and is it worth it to come out?

No shitshow really. All the sourbois are at JP.

Ended our Friday evening at Kuhnhenn (after One Well, Witch's Hat, Schramms, and B Nektar...) as we wanted to try the only mead that Frank had on (dry lemon ginger which was good if not great), and I decided to splurge on the Eisbocks to share with folks. Was actually pleasantly surprised in the quality of them, and was very impressed by this batch of Imperial Creme Brulee Java Stout.

Probably stretching the definition of Metro Detroit, but was pretty impressed with Witch's Hat this trip as well.

Big Doedish and Night Fury which were both tasty.

Dug the glass blown mugs for a mug club, definitely a nice change of pace from the ceramic you see most places using these days.

Solid well rounded tap list that had a little bit of everything on it at pretty good prices as well.

Seemed like a local heavy spot that happened to have some fun / interesting beers on draft with a nice atmosphere / taproom. Think I probably like Old Nation better when heading up for the occasional metro Detroit trips, but definitely another spot to throw into the rotation.
