Some changes to the Gold Cup roster, Hercules, Gooch, Ashe, and McInerney are out, Zusi, Johnson, Besler and Alan Gordon are in.

Guess now they're out of group he wants to get a better central mid and sure up the midfield which has had some suspect play from the wide men, Landon has obviously been great.

Scratch Zusi, insert Gonzales.

Yeah, guess US Soccer shouldn't be posting on facebook late at night haha.

Interesting move though, I didn't think the US CBs were a big issue in the GC guess they presented enough of a concern for Klinsmann to not risk it against better competition.

I think maybe this is just a good opportunity to get Besler and Gonzo a few more games as a pairing in the back. Especially before another round of qualifying.

In a weird bit of transfer drama. Barca is considering paying Thiago Silva's buyout clause so he can become a FA and sign with Barca, PSG has then said they'll buyout Messi if that happens. The Caveat the buyout for Messi is 250M. Is there anyone the owner of PSG can be that serious? I mean I'd just sell Thiago Silva then go buy Mats Hummels. He's better and younger.

This looks like it could just turn into a measuring of manhood contest between those two. In that case I could imagine PSG paying that number because they have that kind of cash.

But they'd pay that much, then Leo would just re-sign with Barca. Leo has not shown any tendencies of being a mercenary and wanting top dollars unlike Ronaldo.

I read that yesterday and shook my head. Probably one of the more juvenile statements I've heard in a long time. Its also not really possible. The PSG owner has to understand that these people aren't slaves. Messi has a say in this, and would have to agree to personal terms with PSG, for the transfer to be completed...considering he is currently on wages of 300,000+ per week, I doubt the personal terms could be met.

Really and truly, I've wasted too much time on this post, considering its more or less useless transfer rumor garbage, that has probably been blown out of proportion by the media. Some of this crap I liken to the trash that is written daily about the Kardashian family.

In other news...those with twitter should follow @usasoccerguy , he's absolutely hilarious.

Really good game by the US today. Landon, Mix, and Corona all espically good. Should be a much more competitive game Wednesday though. Can't wait!

Every summer, I claim that I'm not going to look at twitter, or any of the transfer BS on the internet.
I say I'm going to just turn on the first game of the season and see who does & doesn't come out of the tunnel in an Arsenal kit.
What if I would have done that this summer?

I think I might go into cardiac arrest at hearing that Arsenal had 1.) bid 40m for a player & 2.)That it was Luis Suarez of all people. I can't quite wrap my mind around the fact that he might be an Arsenal player this coming season.

They say there are very few world class strikers left on the market, and that's why it has come to this, but I can't help but think of a guy in Dortmund who is being forced to play out the final year of his contract.

I think you'll find it's 40m and 1.... :D and yea I feel the same way. Suarez might score goals, but he's a loathsome racist little toad who's not above trying to force a move when it suits him. To top that off we wouldn't see him till October which means Liverpool aren't exactly in a hurry to shift him and especially to us. This means, should we continue to pursue him, that we'll be having a jolly transfer deadline day.

I think he has 6 matches left on his suspension, which would have him cleared to start Sept 28th v. Swansea. Assuming they count the capital one cup game as one of the 6 matches. I don't recall if that is an FA sanctioned event, where red card suspensions & other disciplinary suspensions are served.

He would also be able to play in the 3 champions league games before that...assuming we win the first tie.

That being said, I don't even know that I am ok with him being on the team, besides the fact that he fills the void at striker, which we obviously screwed the pooch on at the beginning of this transfer window. I keep going back to the Lewandowski thing...I know he wanted to go to Bayern, but considering his comparatively small wages, he would surely consider a move to London for wages that are 5x his current paycheck. And Dortmund would be more inclined to cash in on him if it weren't their bitter rivals.

Lewa has made it clear that he will just play out of season move to Bayern. What a freaking rat!

As for Suarez I would like to see him come to Arsenal. There have been plenty of awful people be super stars in sports. It's not like he shot a man execution style. I think he would make the team noticeably better. That said I would like to see Def. Mid brought in we never replaced Song and that was our biggest weakness last year. I have seen some articles saying Bayern could be looking to see Luis Gustavo and that Arsenal have been interested. I think that would be a great pick up if he is in fact avalible.

Daily Mail reporting Arsenal and Suarez agree to a 5 year and £150k/week deal. Now just have to find the bid that the Scousers will agree too.

True, but lots of players and clubs "make things clear". He is going to make 1.8 mil euros in his last year at Dortmund. What if someone offered him 8 mil euros? Would it still be "clear"?

And on the other hand, Dortmund, who for all intensive purposes could probably use the cash, refused to sell him to their rivals. What if they were offered 40mil from a team outside their league?

Lewandowski has to be careful here. I'm sure Bayern has made him all sorts of grandiose promises, like massive wages since they didn't have to pay a transfer fee, plus a starting role, etc etc. But there is no contract in place to guarantee these promises. The fact of the matter is that some young striker is probably going to burst on the scene this year and catch pep guardiola's eye. Will Lewandowski still be the promised starter, much less offered a lucrative contract at that point? He also needs to consider what happened to Fernando Llorente. His last year at bilbao was spent on the bench, and now, what was once going to be Juventus's prized signing, is now considered 2nd or 3rd striker due to business that took place while he was waiting out a bitter last year of his contract.

Dortmund would sell him out of the League. Real Madrid and Chelsea each put up €40M bids for him but Lewa said he would only to Bayern and refused to talk personal terms. I am a big Dormund fan and has followed this closely and I think there is almost no chance he moves to any team other Bayern on a free next summer assuming he does not have a major injury.

That's brilliant!

He's worth a punt especially if we're interested in Suarez at much more than 40 mil.

Regardless of striker DM is needed and maybe a central defender with that. Arteta seems to do the job, but if he is injured then we're staring Aaron Ramsey in the face again and I have zero confidence in him.

Agreed. DM, CB, Possibly a wing back, and I'm on the fence about a GK.
Everyone raves about Ramsey's pass completion rate, but for some reason, I have no love for him. I guess it is just his struggles in front of the goal.

I'd like a keeper. Szcz needs to be challenged and I'm not entirely confident in Fabianski as backup, though he did well this last season.

As far as Ramsey goes, his pass completion may be amazing but whenever he screws up it always seems to be big. Watching the Wigan game, on a number of occasions he played a sloppy ball or gave up possession cheaply that gave Wigan a chance to break and sent us scrambling back for last ditch heroics.

I know he suffered that bad injury and he probably needs more time, but I can't help but think he may be going the way of Eduardo....
